Summary
- Glitch in Stardew Valley allows farmer to walk on water, getting trapped in the lake.
- Issue with crab pots causing farmers to phase through them and get stuck on water.
- NPCs in Stardew Valley also exhibit pathfinding glitches, walking on water or through walls.
A Stardew Valley player has experienced a weird glitch that led to their farmer walking on water. If that weren’t odd enough on its own, the Stardew Valley player quickly learned that their farmer was trapped on the small lake they were walking on.
Stardew Valley has many bodies of water in it, and most of them can be fished in. Setting up crab pots to passively capture creatures and items is also a possibility, but fans might want to take some care, as it seems that there’s an issue with crab pots that could lead to this particular problem.

Stardew Valley Players Debate Mona’s Identity
One Stardew Valley player’s question about the identity of the obscure character Mona sparks debate and theories among community members.
A Stardew Valley player going by the name of corus26 shared a video of their strange experience of standing on a lake. The player’s farmer can be seen running across a lake on their farm, walking on water like it’s on solid ground. According to corus26, they were just trying to check on the crab pots that are seen on the perimeter of the lake, but somehow ended up getting into the lake. While this would probably just be an amusing moment if it were left at that, the player quickly found that they were now stuck in the lake and couldn’t get out, even if they tried to access an area with no crab pots. The only way they were able to fix it was by quitting the game and restarting the day, though they also note that they won’t go anywhere without a warp totem anymore, just in case this happens again.
Water Walking in Stardew Valley Isn’t an Isolated Incident
While many fans were content to just share their amusement and wonder at the scene, others pointed out that something similar had happened to them. It seems that, in rare instances, the farmer can somehow phase through a crab pot when checking it, leading to them being stuck on the body of water they’re floating on. Some of those who have gone through this have simply let the day elapse, as once the clock strikes 2 am, Stardew Valley farmers will pass out and wake up the next day in their bed. There are some minor penalties for doing this, but it might be worth it if someone has this issue after a particularly fruitful day.
This isn’t the first instance of seeing someone waking on water in Stardew Valley, as NPCs’ pathfinding sometimes breaks and leads to them phasing through walls or casually walking across bodies of water. Overall, Stardew Valley has few bugs that are genuinely problematic, as the developer releases patches whenever issues are found. Hopefully, this issue will be patched out in the future, as players typically only want to see Stardew Valley‘s ducks on bodies of water, not themselves or NPCs.
