Summary

  • Sliker allegedly scammed followers for gambling money, leading to a Twitch ban and backlash from other streamers.
  • Twitch unbanned and rebanned Sliker within hours, sparking controversy and questions about a potential return to the platform.
  • Twitch’s ban policies are under scrutiny, thought there have been recent changes to the policy to make it more lenient.

Sliker, an English streamer, has been banned on Twitch again just hours after he had been unbanned. Despite building a decent following of over 400K viewers, Sliker was previously accused of some serious allegations, which resulted in his permanent Twitch suspension.

Sliker’s problems with Twitch began in 2022 when it was discovered that he was tricking followers and other streamers into giving him money. He sent private messages and videos to people, citing various personal reasons for why he needed cash. Eventually, Sliker admitted that he wanted money because of his gambling addiction. As word of his actions spread, several popular streamers began demanding that Twitch kick Sliker off the platform altogether. Ludwig even teamed up with xQc, Slime, and OTK project manager Wojito to raise money to pay back the people Sliker had received money from. After all the criticism, Twitch finally issued a permanent ban on his channel in early 2023.

Fast-forward two years, and controversial streamer Sliker‘s Twitch account recently made a surprise comeback. Before this, he’d put in an appeal, which he talked about during a Kick stream showing it was still being looked at. Out of the blue, the appeal got the green light on February 19, but the joy was short-lived. Just a few hours later, Twitch pulled the plug on Sliker’s channel again. Upon visiting his page, viewers are greeted with a message saying his channel has been removed for violating Twitch’s Community Guidelines or Terms of Service.

Twitch’s Unban of Sliker Draws Backlash

As of now, Twitch has not issued any statement on why it suddenly unbanned and then re-banned Sliker, raising questions about his future chances to come back. It is also notable that many on social media were calling out Twitch for the unbanning of the English streamer. In the meantime, Sliker continues streaming on Kick, a platform supported by the gambling website Stake. Kick claims to be more lenient with bans and to pay creators more.

Twitch’s ban policies have sparked debates for a while now, with some people accusing the platform of being too strict, while others say it goes easy on certain streamers. To address these ongoing complaints, Twitch recently announced changes to its ban policies. Now, rule-breaking has an expiration date: minor slip-ups are wiped clean after 90 days, while severe violations, like hateful behavior, can stick around for up to two years. Even streamers who receive indefinite bans aren’t out of luck; they can request a review of their case after six months, which might lead to their account being reinstated.
