Jujutsu Kaisen: The Most Wasted Character In The Story, Explained
Jujutsu Kaisen left many questions unanswered, and with that, many characters were wasted.
From the Big Three clans getting big moments to the Jujutsu higher-ups changing positions of power, a lot was tackled in the last few chapters. At the same time, fans also got to see new characters pop up in the story, and in some cases, even the old characters to a certain degree, which was exciting, to say the least. One such character who utterly stunned the fans upon appearing momentarily towards the end was Suguru Geto, who fans know where well.
How Geto And Kenjaku Met Their End
- Geto Died At The Hands Of Gojo
- Kenjaku Fell In Shinjuku Showdown
Geto and Kenjaku are two different characters, yet they are very similar as well, given that for a significant period of time, Kenjaku held Geto’s body. Kenjaku is known to be an ancient sorcerer who has stood the test of time using his body-hopping cursed technique. Essentially, he can take control of various bodies by becoming their brain and living on as that person. This is how he was able to live for as long as he did, and how he eventually found his way to Geto as well. As far as Geto is concerned, fans know for a fact that he was one of the two strongest students in Jujutsu High in Tokyo at one point, alongside Gojo. However, eventually, he went down the wrong path and his goal became to kill all those who don’t possess cursed energy. He committed several acts of terrorism over the years, and eventually, he fell in battle at the hands of Yuta Okkotsu.
No matter what anyone says, I really hate those monkeys. — Geto Suguru
When Yuta and Geto fought, it was clear that the former was far superior to him in just about everything. Even Geto’s strongest attacks couldn’t take a new Jujutsu sorcerer down, and Rika was eventually able to leave him at death’s door. Following Yuta’s victory, Gojo then personally saw Geto and supposedly finished him off, because he simply needed to. But, the body wasn’t successfully ridden off, which meant that Kenjaku now had a very powerful body at his disposal. He ended up claiming Geto’s body and became a very strong individual, greater than ever before.
Kenjaku then went on to engage in many different acts of terrorism and all this was to set the stage for the former sorceress to return to the forefront, including Sukuna, and then restarting the Golden Age of Jujutsu. He signed a contract with many ancient sorcerers and had them return centuries later to fight in the Culling Game. But, it is here that he ended up meeting his rather uncharismatic end. Much to the surprise of the fans, Kenjaku was dealt with in a bizarre manner by the author. Yuta Okkotsu, together with Aoi Todo, were able to sneak up on him and the former launched a powerful strike on his head, decapitating him. Kenjaku’s brain was then stabbed, which allowed for Geto to be freed and Kenjaku to officially die. Yet, there is more to them than just that.
Geto’s Return At The End Of JJK And What It Means
JJK Chapter 270 Introduced A Geto Lookalike
Prior to the end of Jujutsu Kaisen, fans knew that they were in for a treat as many exciting reveals were going to be made after the war in Shinjuku wrapped up. Several fans had hoped for the author to take a step and reintroduce Gojo in the story, especially since this character met a rather shocking end despite being a fan favorite. However, that most certainly didn’t happen. Gege Akutami didn’t reintroduce Gojo in the story. Instead, he decided to reintroduce someone who no fan expected to show up again and that’s Geto.
To be more precise, fans don’t know who this character truly is, but one thing is for sure and that is that the body belongs to Geto Suguru.
Farewell, Gojo Satoru. I shall never forget you for as long as I live. — Sukuna
In Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 270, fans saw Geto right next to Takaba, discussing events of a certain play that the two were planning next. This was a massive shock to the fans as it didn’t really make any sense. To make it even more surprising, the author hid the face of the character, preventing the fans from seeing who it truly was. But, what was clear was that the body belonged to Geto and that the mind wasn’t that of Kenjaku, to say the least. This character appeared in the story only briefly, but his introduction raised quite a lot of questions, such as what his goal was and how he returned.
To be clear, nothing is known about him just yet. While fans do wish they got to see more of him, his face was completely hidden by a strange panel in the chapter. Following his reintroduction, he wasn’t seen in the final chapter at all, meaning that the true identity of this character is unknown.
When Will Fans Find Out The Truth About Geto’s Return?
Fans Will Likely Never Know The Answer
Of course, there are many ideas out there that explain who this character was and how he came to be. The most likely guess is that this person wasn’t exactly Gojo or Geto, but looked just like that. The truth of his character lies in the Comedian technique of Takaba. Since he can turn anything into reality as long as he finds it funny, he likely gave rise to the existence of a particular individual who looks just like Geto Suguru, and then shaped this character to be the perfect partner that he wanted.
This is likely what fans saw in JJK 270, although it is unfortunate that the truth of it will not be answered by the author ever. If JJK ever continues, perhaps, it’ll be explained by the author, but as things stand, it most likely isn’t going to ever continue, which means fans will have to be content with the fact that this Geto lookalike exists and that there is no official explanation for his existence. That said, speculation is fun in its own way, and fans absolutely love to theorize about various elements of the story and then be proven right. Perhaps, at some point later down the line, the truth about the Geto lookalike will be revealed as well.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s last chapter, JJK 271, was finally released on September 29, 2024. Fans can read the series on the Manga Plus and the Shonen Jump apps.
