Redwing Guide (Deck, Tips, Review)

Redwing Guide (Deck, Tips, Review)

Marvel SNAP’s Redwing has arrived, and things aren’t looking great for this tiny falcon. Some are already calling it the worst card of the Brave New World season, while others believe he might have untapped potential waiting for the right synergies. One thing is certain, though—you won’t see many Redwing plays in the current meta, as the card feels undeniably clunky in most setups.

Thaddeus Ross is arguably the least favorite card of Marvel SNAP’s new season, but he can actually be useful in this refined Surtur deck.

After some testing, we’ve put together what seems to be one of the few viable decks for Redwing in Marvel SNAP. That said, don’t expect miracles—even in decks built entirely around his ability, Redwing still struggles to make an impact.

The Best Deck for Redwing

the best deck for redwing in marvel snap.

Redwing is struggling to find a consistent place in Marvel SNAP’s meta. However, one of his best fits is a refined Heimdall-Infinaut deck featuring the following cards: Redwing, Heimdall, Infinaut, Dracula, Vulture, Aero, Ghost-Spider, Madame Web, Spider-Man 2099, Iron Fist, Adam Warlock, and Red Hulk.

Redwing Deck Synergies

  • Keep big cards like Red Hulk and The Infinaut in hand to use as targets for both Dracula and Redwing.
  • Madame Web, Iron Fist, Ghost-Spider, and Heimdall provide movement.
  • Aero and Spider-Man 2099 offer crowd control, allowing you to manipulate the opponent’s board or destroy their cards.
  • Adam Warlock helps with card draw, ensuring you have the right targets for Dracula and Redwing.
  • Vulture and Redwing benefit from movement—Vulture gains Power, while Redwing’s effect is unleashed.

How to Play Redwing Effectively

Exploiting Redwing’s ability is challenging since it depends on multiple factors. However, you can maximize his impact with these tips:

  1. Be patient with Redwing. Don’t rush to play him—wait until you can move him and ensure that his movement will be beneficial.
  2. Clogging his lane can be a mind game. When Redwing moves, he drops a card from your hand into his previous location. Sometimes, filling his lane can create a false sense of security for your opponent, only for you to swap him out with a bigger drop.
  3. Keep space open for movement. Redwing’s ability won’t activate unless there’s at least one open slot on the board for him to move into.

How to Counter Redwing Decks

Redwing is an easy target for Red Guardian, but Shang-Chi can also be a solid counter. While he can’t directly target Redwing, he can take down the big drops commonly found in Redwing decks.

Theoretically, since most Redwing decks will likely fall into the movement archetype, Kingpin and Scream can be strong counters. Both punish enemy movement—Kingpin afflicts moved cards with negative Power, while Scream steals their Power.

Why Redwing Is Such a Bad Card

Marvel Snap Brave New World Season 5 Redwing

Redwing is simply an unnecessary card. No matter what archetype you slot him into, he just ends up frustrating you—forcing you to trigger his effect or leaving you with a useless three-Cost drop. I think Redwing is a bad card for three reasons:

  1. Requires third-party activation. Redwing’s ability only triggers when you move it, but it can’t move on its own.
  2. RNG-dependent. His utility relies on random chance. You can’t guarantee that he’ll target the card you want unless you have only one card in hand.
  3. The payoff is minimal. Even if you manage to make Redwing work, the reward isn’t worth the effort. You sacrifice so much to make him functional, but the results are underwhelming.

Maybe if Marvel SNAP turned Redwing into an Activate card and reduced the RNG of his effect, he could become a utility character. That way, you’d have more control over when his effect triggers without needing movement activators. But for now, he remains one of the most skippable cards in the game’s roster.
