Summary
- Pokemon Unite devs have revealed features and modes exclusive to China are being rolled out worldwide.
- The rollout will begin with the addition of China’s 500-point game mode on Pokemon Day.
- Other features including an in-game lobby and an auto chess mode should follow in the future.
Three years after its initial launch, Pokemon Unite arrived in China at the end of last year. Well, sort of. What is effectively an entirely different version of Pokemon Unite was released in China, and only on mobile, not Nintendo Switch. If some of Unite’s China-exclusive modes and features looked good to you, we have some good news – they’re coming to the global version of Unite starting this Pokemon Day.
The reveal that the rest of the world will soon start getting elements previously exclusive to the still-new Chinese version of Unite was made via a post on the MOBA’s Japanese site. The first feature from China’s version of Unite making its worldwide bow will be its 500-point battle mode. Forget Aeos Energy, this mode is all about scoring the most points.

I’ve Never Been So Hyped For Pokemon Day As I Am This Year
This year’s Pokemon Day is going to be huge.
Unite players outside of China already knew the 500-point mode would be getting a global release for a limited time. It’s the reveal that China’s other exclusive features will be coming to the full game that is cause for celebration. Some of Unite’s modes are so different in China that it feels like playing a sequel, and now some, if not all of those features will be coming to Unite everywhere, potentially making it feel like an entirely new game.
Pokemon Unite’s China Exclusive Features Are Coming To The Full Game
Starting With Its 500-Point Mode On Pokemon Day
The post simply notes the features from China’s version of Pokemon Unite will gradually be added to the worldwide version of the game, not noting which ones or when they’ll get there outside of the 500-point battle mode’s arrival next week. However, the wording implies all of the features and modes only available in China right now will eventually be available to everyone.
As for what those features are, topping the list is an auto-battler which is effectively Pokemon auto chess. A take on the series many of you will have been eager to see manifested for years, and as recently as last week, leaks about the battler implied it would be a China-only game mode. If today’s update on the future of Unite is anything to go by, we’ll all have the chance to play it, albeit at a currently undetermined time in the future.
China’s version of Unite also includes an in-game lobby where players can wander around with their partner Pokemon, mini-games between matches, and daily quests to complete within this hub that, as of now, doesn’t exist outside of China. Odd that this announcement wasn’t saved for Pokemon Day itself, but hey, now we have something to look forward to and a reason to jump back into Pokemon Unite with an all-new game mode confirmed to be launching on February 27, 2025.
