Overwatch 2‘s Season 15 is very exciting for all its players, but especially for veteran players from the original Overwatch. But it’s almost better than before.
Loot boxes have finally returned and players will find themselves able to earn almost 100 in just this season alone. The new system for these loot boxes is based on the amount of time players spend playing the game, rather than players having to spend money on them. Overwatch 2 Drop Rates, Explained
Getting loot boxes in Overwatch 2 can be pretty easy as players can get them through Twitch Drops, the Free and Premium Battle Passes, some weekly quests, and events. Players will also be able to earn loot boxes by completing special challenges in Season 15, and these boxes will contain past event items, items that are no longer able to be purchased within the store, and old Overwatch 1 items. Below is the number of many different items players can get from these loot boxes, with duplicates being rewarded with in-game currency.
- There are a total of 530 Legendary items.
- There are a total of 834 Epic items.
- There are a total of 1172 Rare items.
- There are a total of 2675 Common items.
Players will be able to get some loot boxes by completing the challenges for the season, which will provide a handful of loot boxes up front. The challenge will require players to play 5 games and then 10 games for 5 loot boxes each.

The more Overwatch 2 players play, the more they will be able to earn loot boxes. The more loot boxes that are opened, the more likely players will be able to get a Legendary loot box. Players are guaranteed to get at least one Legendary item every 20 loot boxes and every Legendary loot box will contain a Legendary item.
