The Meathook Massacre – #122

Regular – $21.42

There’s no doubt about the power behind The Meathook Massacre, the black enchantment that was so good it was banned in Standard. The Meathook Massacre acts as a board wipe that sticks around and scales with the amount of mana you have available at any given time.

The nice thing about The Meathook Massacre is that, unlike other board wipes, it can deal with indestructible creatures thanks to the reduction of toughness and state-based actions. That means that no Eldrazi or fancy artifact creatures will be left standing for long. If you can bounce it back to your hand you can keep the board clear turn after turn.

Emrakul, The Promised End – #5

Regular – $21.74

One of the most formidable creatures to ever be released in Magic, Emrakul, the Promised End is back in Innistrad Remastered and it should come as no surprise that the Eldrazi Titan is among the most valuable cards in the set.

Part of what contributes to Emrakul’s high value is that it is one of the few ways to control your opponent’s turns in Magic, and the only creature to do so too. While 13 mana might seem like a lot, Emrakul can get discounted down to just nine mana if you have all the card types in your graveyard.

Avacyn, Angel Of Hope

Retro Frame – $22.35

One of the most iconic Angels in the game, Avacyn, Angel of Hope is an absolute powerhouse on the battlefield, which is only offset by her huge casting cost. Sitting at eight-mana, Avacyn all but assures you a victory, or at least drains your opponents of significant resources to remove it.

Avacyn has never been printed with the retro frame style before her appearance in Innistrad Remastered, making it the first time you can get the card in this classic style. If you’re looking for a strong Commander staple, particularly in reanimator decks, you can’t go wrong with this Angel.

Craterhoof Behemoth

Retro Frame – $24.36

There’s only one style of printing for Craterhoof Behemoth in Innistrad Remastered, the retro frame, and it also means that the Behemoth has been printed in each main frame type Magic has had.

This green game closer is a huge draw for Commander players to pick up Innistrad Remastered packs, as playing a Craterhoof all but assures that you’re winning the match. Just tutor this bad Beast up and you’ll give all your creatures a major boost in stats.

Emrakul, The Promised End – #481

Showcase – $26.20

There is so much to love about this iteration of Emrakul from illustrator Josh Newton. The piece has some serious War of the World vibes, with the dome-headed Emrakul looming over the townsfolk.

The perspective of the card’s illustration is beautiful, with your eye drawn down the yellow road right up to the church that Emrakul is toppling, providing the perfect spot to place all the text that she comes with. Despite Emrakul’s influence in Magic, this is one of only two alternate art versions of the card, making it a great pick for Eldrazi fans.

The Meathook Massacre – #486

Showcase – $26.46

One of the neat things about the Innistrad Remaster is that it is part of a collection of cards that received a special movie poster theme. The Meathook Massacre’s showcase card is illustrated by James Bousema and play into the slasher killer genre of films.

Bousema depicts the sheer horror of the depths of depravity that people fall to on Innistrad, whether they’re being influenced by the whispers of the Eldrazi or out of pure human malice. The bloody text of the card’s name dripping down onto the butcher is an incredible touch.

Avacyn, Angel Of Hope

Showcase – $31.65

Another fantastic piece from Josh Newton, this version of Avacyn, Angel of Hope features the central figure of the Church of Avacyn in the clutches of what looks to be her demonic arch nemesis, Griselbrand.

The white light of Avacyn’s angelic glow strikes a stark contrast against the dark orange glow of the demonic figure behind her, while the hands and eyes frame the card in an eerie glow, directing your eye to the middle of the card. It’s a bold move to make Avacyn so small on her own card, but one that definitely pays off.

Edgar Markov – #428

Retro Frame – $31.75

The retro frame is a delightful addition to the game, giving players the chance to revisit the glory days of Magic: The Gathering. With the release of Innistrad Remastered, plenty of cards have received a retro frame printing for the first time, including the Vampire king, Edgar Markov.

Edgar is one of the few cards that was not printed from a direct Innistrad set to make his way to this Remaster set, instead having debuted in Commander 2017. With his exceptionally powerful eminence ability, Edgar makes for one of the best Vampire commanders around.

If you want to add a bit of bite to your Vampire commander deck, you can always sink your teeth into the showcase version of the progenitor of all Vampires on Innistrad, Edgar Markov.

This showcase version of the card features not only the special fang border but also brand-new artwork of the vampire lord being celebrated with a bloody toast. Betty Jiang brings the sanguine king to life with her illustration, with Edgar in his full armor, no doubt celebrating a recent victory.

Edgar Markov – #234

Regular – $37.95

Coming in at the top of the charts for Innistrad Remastered is Edgar Markov once again, this time with his modern border and original artwork. Much of what makes Edgar so good is his eminence ability, which triggers whether he’s in the command zone or on the battlefield, making a 1/1 Vampire creature token anytime you cast a Vampire spell.

Top that off with an exceptionally strong attack trigger, to put a +1/+1 counter on each of your Vampire creatures when he attacks, you have yourself a constantly growing army to take down any opponent.
