Marvel Rivals has announced that Human Torch will be making his debut alongside the Negative Zone Gladiator costume. NetEase Games is about to launch a major mid-season update for Marvel Rivals, which will introduce a wealth of new content to the popular hero shooter. Fans can expect to see two new heroes, a Central Park map, numerous balance changes, and new challenges with free rewards.
It has been revealed that Human Torch will be a Duelist in Marvel Rivals, which means he’ll be taking the fight to the enemy team head-on. As a flying hero, he has the ability to hurl flames at his foes from high in the air, but he also an ability that sends him crashing down with a fiery strike. He can even create walls of fire that deal damage to all nearby enemies, allowing him to create zones that could prove deadly for anyone caught inside. His ultimate ability transforms his usual primary flame attack into fire tornadoes. When Storm is present as an ally, she can use her ult to take over one of the tornadoes, combining it with her own to devastating effect. Johnny also has a team-up with Invisible Woman, which gives him extra shields to protect him from incoming attacks.

In a recent post on Twitter, NetEase Games revealed that the Negative Zone Gladiator costume will arrive in the shop at the same time as Human Torch in Marvel Rivals. The new outfit paints the jovial Johnny Storm in a darker light, as he is covered in black armor with bits of flame managing to shine through. A knotted dark material appears to have crawled up his arm and on the side of his face, giving the clean-cut hero a grizzled look. The outfit also lacks any symbol that would mark him as a member of The Fantastic Four, which is unusual for the fiery youngster.

According to leakers, the skin’s bundle will be priced at 1,600 Units in Marvel Rivals, which means it will be considered an epic rarity cosmetic. NetEase Games recently announced that players who earn extra Chrono Tokens over the course of the season will soon be able to trade them in for Units, allowing fans to claim more items in the shop for free.
Human Torch won’t be arriving alone, as gamers will also be able to play The Thing in Marvel Rivals when the massive update launches on February 21. The stony hero will be the title’s newest Vanguard, with an ability kit that allows him to charge straight into battle. The Thing focuses on pummeling his opponents and even has a passive ability that prevents him from being moved or manipulated by incoming attacks. With so much content releasing soon and even more planned for the future, many fans are looking forward to seeing what NetEase Games does next.
