With many systems and mechanics at play, it can be a bit challenging to pinpoint how certain aspects of the game work or how you can improve specific attributes of your Hero during a run, such as increasing their Maximum Health. Fortunately, it’s not nearly as complex as it seems, and you can buff yourself up and slash your way through hell!

How To Increase Your Max Health

Overall, there are only a handful of ways you can increase your Max Health in Warriors: Abyss, which can be tremendously valuable in keeping you alive during the more hectic moments of a run or can be the make or break when defeating a challenging boss.

While every Hero will have differing Attack and Defense properties, all of them will have the same Max Health, no matter the Dynasty, their size, or defensive prowess, which may be confusing at first, but it makes sense once you learn how raising that limit is handled in the game.

There are a total of three ways you can increase your Hero’s Maximum Health in Warriors: Abyss, with two of the methods being limited to the current run and the other being a permanent increase across the board. We will cover the two temporary increases first, then end with the permanent one!

Peach Trees

Peach Trees will be the most common method of raising your Maximum Health during a run in Warriors: Abyss, but they can still be rare, as they won’t always appear. Nonetheless, after you complete a Phase, there is a chance one of the Portals will have a Peach icon next to it, signifying that it leads to a Peach Tree.

Activate the Portal and take it to the next area to find a sizable, lone Peach Tree in the following room. Approach the tree and select the ‘Eat’ option to have your Hero consume a Peach, raising their Maximum Health while replenishing a decent portion of their health bar if it’s low.

From here, your Maximum Health will be increased until you meet your fate or clear the run, where it will then reset back to normal, meaning it is not a permanent upgrade. Still, these Peach Trees are lifesavers and should be taken advantage of whenever they show up!

Treasure

A look at Treasure in Warriors: Abyss, including the Ieyasu Tokugawa's Golden Armor.

The following method of raising your Maximum Health in Warriors: Abyss is via Treasures, obtained after slaying bosses and opening the large Chest near the exit. You will have a choice of three Treasures and can only choose one, and they will always be randomized, so you won’t know which ones you will have until after you defeat the boss.

If you’re lucky, the Ieyasu Tokugawa’s Golden Armor Treasure will be one of the three choices, as it will increase your Hero’s Maximum Health by a generous 30 percent for the remainder of the run, expiring if you die or roll credits, making it yet another temporary boost.

Unfortunately, there are 24 Treasures in the game, so your odds of getting this one specifically aren’t exceptionally high. Still, if you see the Golden Armor cross your path after taking down a boss, you should snag it unless one of the other choices is substantially better for your current run!

Forming Bonds With Heroes

Forming Bonds is our third and final way of increasing your Maximum Health in Warriors: Abyss, except this one is far more beneficial, as it impacts every single Hero in the game and is a permanent buff. As you play the game, you will obtain Karma Embers, which can then be used to obtain Heroes through the Hall of Bonded Souls.

Despite acquiring a new Hero being awesome in its own right, the real benefit of obtaining more characters is their permanent Stat Buffs that impact every Hero’s Health, Attack, or Defense. Take Xu Zhu, for example. Forming a Bond with him will provide a universal +2 Health to every single Hero in the game, making this system massive for subsequent runs.

To find out what a Hero’s Unlock Effect is, head to the Hall of Bonded Souls in the main menu and select a currently locked character. Directly underneath their model will be a table, with the first entry being ‘Unlock Effect.’ Here, you will see which Stats they impact and by how much, allowing you to focus on specific ones. Remember, this impacts EVERY Hero in the game, which will be how you make future runs much more manageable!
