Marius is the second companion you get during Avowed’s main story, and here’s how you should build him.

While going through the Shatterscarp area, you can find the Don’t Look Down quest where you’ll have to climb a tower and decide what to do with Katoa and Haiako at the top, but the climb won’t be easy.

To get the Don’t Look Down quest, you essentially have to visit the Shark’s Teeth area on the northeastern side of Shatterscarp. This area has two main entrances, but you have to take one to the south as you’ll find this quest at the entrance there.

You’ll meet an NPC called Moapo at the entrance who’ll tell you that a couple of people are defeating a dozen Dreamthralls at a time, and he needs you to get some supplies to them so they can keep up. After taking this quest, the first order of business is to find the tower that you have to climb.

How To Climb Tago’s Tower

The tower mentioned by Moapa is called the Tago Tower and it can be found on the western edge of Shark’s Teeth. After taking the quest, move toward the north and take the path on your left to easily reach this tower. Once you’re here, you’ll see a small path from the right side of the tower.

Take this path to get to the back side where you’ll notice a giant window with a platform at the bottom of it. Climb this platform and you can break the window by using an Eye of Rymrgand or a weapon that deals frost damage, which grants you entry to the tower.

While on the path from the front to the back of the tower, you’ll have numerous traps to deal with on the way.

Watch out for the trip wires on the ground and small structures that look like stone since these are likely buttons that activate a trap.

As soon as you enter the tower, you should first go all the way down so that you can unbar the main door. After that, use the structures and the ladder to climb back up. From here, you can see various ascended platforms on the side walls of the building that you can easily climb.

However, these platforms and the general path will have a ton of tripwires on the way. While jumping from one part to another, make sure you disable these first as they can easily deal a lot of damage. You can easily disarm a trip wire by looking at one of its anchor points while getting a little close.

As you climb and reach near the top, you’ll see a yellow lever that disables all the traps in the tower. After this, keep climbing and you’ll go past some wooden beams at the top before finding a ladder to the two people you’re looking for.

What Should You Do With Katoa And Haiako?

As you go through the tower and see a bunch of Aedyran bodies, you’ll realize that the dozen killings that Katoa and Haiako do are not Dreamthralls, but the Aedyrans trying to climb the tower. When you meet these two at the top, you’ll have one of the two options:

  • You can either talk with them and get them to leave the tower without violence, which won’t give you any rewards but will save two lives. If you want to do this, you’ll either have to do the hidden quest in Scaedclef or recruit Yatzli so she can convince them.
  • On the other hand, every other dialogue option will lead you to a fight with the two. While this will lead to you killing them, you can get a bunch of currency and some exceptional gear from their bodies.

Regardless of the option you choose, you can open the golden chest at the top of the tower to get the Thirdborn Brigandine Jack unique armor.
