- Although vulnerable in close combat, Mashimo’s abilities make him a valuable one-man army in Sakamoto’s crew.
The expert marksman and member of the Sakamoto crew, Heisuke Mashimo is a talented sniper that can ricochet bullets off objects or take out opponents from a fairly long distance. As a former assassin, Mashimo was unable to find employment anywhere because he was unable to perform any of the other skills as an assassin except sniping.
He later joins Sakamoto’s crew after meeting them at an air soft tournament. While he was initially “gunning” for Sakamoto’s bounty, he realized he did not stand a chance after Sakmoto destroyed his gun with just a rock. However, he was later acknowledged by Sakamoto as one of the best snipers he had come across.

Mashimo – The Legendary Sniper And Assassin
The Art Of Sniping Comes Naturally To Him
Even though Mashimo did not possess any other skills, his abilities and knowledge of sharpshooting was on a different level. His skills as a marksman surpass even the best of assassins and are nearly impossible to match. Mashimo’s skills were so good that he was able to quickly assemble and aim his sniper all while jumping backwards at the same time. This kind of timing and control does not come naturally to anyone.
Upon meeting Shin and Sakamoto at the air soft tournament, Mashimo was able to take out four opponents in a flash before Sakamoto or Shin could move, showcasing the level of marksmanship he has. During his academy days, Mashimo set an all-time record by assembling a gun and firing it ninety-six times, a feat that even Sakamoto could not accomplish. This feat was recognized by the assassin community and even got Mashimo the nickname “Dragoon”.
Okay, so what do I have to do? Shin: Just shoot the other teams, and shut up!
As a marksman, Mashimo was also able to endure physical pain, this is seen when he was stabbed, but he was still able to snipe without losing sight of his targets. This is where his training as an assassin came in handy, as he was able to bear the physical pain and keep composure, this means he had a higher level of coping when it came to pain than the average person. Mashimo’s primary weapon is his bolt-action sniper, but it’s not his weapon that is dangerous, but the bullets he uses. He uses his unique invention known as, Ricochet Rounds, which allows him to shoot at targets that are hiding behind barriers and bounce bullets off surfaces so that he is able to hit his target.
Tactical Genius And One-Man Army
His Winged Companion And Tactical Knowledge Makes Him Unstoppable
Mashimo’s tactical intelligence knows no bounds as he is able to remain calm under pressure as well as use tactical strategies to target his opponents. A unique trick he has up his sleeve is using his pet bird named Piisuke to locate his target, similar to a scout, Piisuke is able to let Mashimo know where his targets are.

The Dondenkai are a new agency introduced in Sakamoto Days. Who are they, and what are their motives?
The only downside to this is that it costs Mashimo twenty thousand yen to feed Piisuke. With the instincts of a killer, Mashimo is able to make calculated decisions when sniping and anticipating his target’s movements. He also knows how to use the environment to his advantage without getting caught, thanks to his long-range skills.
One of Mashimo’s weaknesses is that he would not perform well if he was faced with a close-range attack, since all his skills are put into sniping, his ability to fight opponents at close-range may not be his best shot at winning. But as a sniper, Mashimo can be considered a one-man army who is able to take out multiple opponents with ease. This makes Mashimo an essential part of Sakamoto’s crew as he helps the gang survive the onslaught of assassins that they come across. A simple-minded man, Mashimo is easily a fan favorite because of his goofy character and the heart of a sniper.
