Genshin Impact’s Leaked Charlotte Rerun Should Be the Tip of the Iceberg

Genshin Impact's Leaked Charlotte Rerun Should Be the Tip of the Iceberg

As Genshin Impact’s roster of playable characters continues to expand with both four-star and five-star characters, the need for additional methods for obtaining characters also grows. At this point in Genshin Impact’s lifecycle, the existing Wish Banners have become increasingly problematic for habitually neglecting characters, especially Cryo characters and some of the newest four-star characters, so it’s arguably time for some changes.

Until more options are introduced for how players can obtain characters, Event Wish Banners prioritizing character reruns based on their order in Genshin Impact’s character rerun waiting list could be a welcome change. According to some of the latest leaks, a particularly long-overdue four-star character is set to receive a rerun in phase two of Genshin Impact’s 5.4 update, which should be just the tip of the iceberg for some of the neglected characters in Genshin Impact’s roster to become more readily available.

While Genshin Impact’s character roster continues to grow with every update, one missing character role seems unlikely to be filled any time soon.

Genshin Impact’s Leaked 5.4 Phase Two Banners Are Long Overdue After the 2024 Cryo Drought

While the four-star characters in Genshin Impact’s upcoming Event Wish Banners normally aren’t revealed ahead of time unless one of them is going to be a new character, trusted community sources often datamine the upcoming four-star characters. According to leaks from HomDGCat, the upcoming four-star characters that will appear on Wriothesley and Furina’s featured Event Wish Banners in phase two of Genshin Impact’s 5.4 update have already been revealed.

5.4 Phase Two Event Wish Banner Four-Star Characters Leaked

  • Charlotte (Cryo Catalyst)
  • Chongyun (Cryo Claymore)
  • Mika (Cryo Polearm)

The phase two Event Wish Banners of Genshin Impact’s 5.4 update will be available from March 4, 2025, until March 25, 2025.

After the recent Cryo drought in Genshin Impact, with Event Wish Banners featuring very few new Cryo characters or reruns of existing Cryo characters throughout 2024, the upcoming Event Wish Banners will give players plenty of opportunities to expand their roster with new Cryo characters. Hopefully, these Banners being stacked with Cryo characters indicates that Genshin Impact will avoid another Cryo drought in 2025.

Genshin Impact’s Leaked 5.4 Reruns Should Spark a Chain Reaction Going Forward

Regardless of the neglect that Cryo characters have faced throughout Genshin Impact’s recent updates, Charlotte’s anticipated rerun is especially long overdue considering that she currently has the longest streak without a rerun among Genshin Impact’s four-star character waiting list as of the 5.4 update. If these leaks about Charlotte’s rerun are true, this will be her first-ever rerun since her debut in the version 4.2 update back in November 2023. While it’s nice to see Genshin Impact finally addressing both the Cryo jail and the character waiting list with this upcoming Banner, it’s arguably time for some permanent changes going forward to prevent additional characters from meeting the same, unfortunate fate as Charlotte in the first place.

How Genshin Impact Can Address the Four-Star Waiting List in 2025

  • Adding new characters to the rotation of purchasable four-star characters in the Paimon’s Bargains shop
  • A separate pity system specifically for featured four-star characters
  • Event Wish Banners could prioritize four-star characters based on their order in Genshin Impact’s character rerun waiting list
  • Simultaneous Event Wish Banners could feature separate four-star characters

While the highly-requested third Event Wish Banner in Genshin Impact could address the five-star character waiting list, assuming this Banner shares the same four-star characters with the other active Event Wish Banners, this wouldn’t address the issue of the four-star waiting list. Consequently, further changes might be necessary to address the neglect that some of the newer four-star characters often receive compared to the older four-stars who players have had countless opportunities to unlock and collect all of their character Constellation upgrades by now.
