Deliverance 2’s Snow White Reference Explained

Warhorse Studios’ Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is chock-full of fun Easter eggs, and not just the kind of references that point to its predecessor either. Some of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s best Easter eggs include references to Elden Ring‘s LetMeSoloHer, Skyrim‘s famous “arrow to the knee” quote, and even a few Harry Potter Easter eggs to boot. However, these are far from the only unique references in the game, with a rather extensive and detailed nod to Snow White even lying off the beaten path and near the border of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Kuttenberg region.

Most of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Easter eggs are very subtle, with Henry either saying something as a reference or finding a specific item with absolutely no explanation at all — like Luffy’s straw hat from One Piece. With such subtlety in these references, it might lead players to only know what they are linked to after first seeing the explanation somewhere online. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Snow White reference, on the other hand, should be immediately recognizable to most players, thanks to the amount of detail that went into its elaborate show.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Goes All in on Its Snow White Reference

In the northwestern corner of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Kuttenberg region, deep in the woods just northeast of Raborsch, players can find a special point of interest simply labeled “Cottage in the woods.” Upon approaching it from afar, it looks like a simple cottage, and its label certainly doesn’t give away too much about it. However, as players draw nearer to it, they might discover some interesting details about it that are linked to Disney’s very first full-length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Outside the cottage is a table, complete with meal preparations and eight chairs — seven of which are very small. Near the table is a cauldron over a fire, which was presumably meant to be their main course. On one side of the cottage is a clothesline, where various articles of small clothing have been hung out to dry. The cottage’s interior, though, is host to some of the scene’s most interesting details, most of which even more clearly indicate that this is a reference to Snow White.

When entering the cottage, players should notice seven small beds lined up neatly along the wall, though they are unmade in a way that suggests their owners left in a hurry. While all of this might seem like enough of a confirmation that this scene is indeed from Snow White, however, the most telling detail is lying on the large bed inside the cottage. Across the room from the small beds lies a deceased woman on a much larger bed, with a Bitten Apple resting next to her head. This is a clear reference to the poison apple that Snow White bites into, and it even comes with a unique gameplay mechanic.

The Bitten Apple can be picked up and eaten if players wish to, but it will reduce their energy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to 0, causing a massive stamina reduction in return. Henry will also occasionally close his eyes for a brief moment and complain about being tired. Perhaps the Warhorse Studios devs thought it might be too much to actually poison and kill Henry, but surely players would have suspected that would happen.

Snow White’s Believed Setting Is Geographically Relevant to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The majority of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s best Easter eggs have no place being in its world, but its Snow White reference is a different story. It is believed that the story of Snow White takes place in Germany, thereby making it relevant to Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Bohemia. As it turns out, Bohemia is Germany’s western neighbor, and while Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2‘s Snow White reference is in its Bohemian setting, it is still more geographically relevant than almost any other reference in the game.
