Days Gone Remastered will be more than just a better-looking version of the original PS4 game – good news considering the original isn’t old enough to look all that bad yet. Much like The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered, Days Gone’s PS5 version will also come with new modes. Horde Assault which will pit you against wave after wave of zombies, and a permandeath mode. For those unfamiliar with permadeath, it’s exactly what it sounds like. Die, even once, and you have to start the game over.

There’s only one edition of Days Gone Remastered to choose from, so no tricky decision to make in that regard. The remaster does come with pre-order bonuses, though. Whether you’re buying the remaster or upgrading to it, doing so before release day will net you eight exclusive Days Gone Remastered PSN Avatars, and five in-game items that will be awaiting you when you start the game’s story for the first time.

Upgrading To Days Gone Remastered On PS5 And PC Options

There’s Good News And Bad News

As has been the case with most PS4 PlayStation exclusives to get a PS5 remaster, if you own the original version of the game, you have the option to upgrade for $10. There are caveats, though. If you acquired your copy of Days Gone through PS Plus Extra, when it was one of the monthly games on PS Plus Essential, or while it was part of the PS Plus Classics collection, you will not be able to upgrade for $10. You will need to buy the rematser separately and pay full price.

You also can’t buy the original now and upgrade for a discounted rate. PlayStation is on to you so the PS4 version costs $39.99, meaning you won’t be saving any money by buying that and upgrading.

Even though PC players won’t be getting the remaster, at least not yet, the other features are coming to the PC version of Days Gone. If you already own Days Gone on PC, there will be a bundle exclusive to the platform dubbed the Broken Road DLC that will add the remaster’s other features, including the new modes.
