Black Ops 6’s revived Grind map appears to tease new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game

Grind remains one of my favorite battlegrounds from the Call of Duty Black Ops series – I’ve got plenty of fond memories from BO2 and BO4, and now the skatepark map is returning in Black Ops 6 thanks to today’s Season 2 Reloaded update. Due to the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles-themed event, it’s had a proper TMNT makeover with lots of graffiti and nods to the rampage reptiles. However, it’s also packing an even more exciting reference to another beloved franchise. If you jump into Grind right now in Black Ops 6, you’ll see a teaser for a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater announcement that should appear in just a couple of weeks’ time.

While Black Ops 6 Season 2 Reloaded was always going to add new content that’d please Call of Duty enjoyers, it seems to also be delivering excellent news to Tony Hawk fans. In 2020, skateboard game fans everywhere were blessed with the stunning remasters of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. Despite developer Vicarious Visions initially pitching to recreate all four THPS games and bundle the quartet together, it was reportedly deemed too ambitious by overlords Activision, so was restricted to just the first two games. There was hope that separate remasters of THPS 3 and 4 would arrive in the future, but when Vicarious was absorbed into Blizzard, that dream felt like it was over.

However, earlier this week, professional skateboarder Tyshawn Jones appeared on a radio show and leaked that he would be starring in “a new Tony Hawk” that was in the process of being remastered. Jones also featured as a newly added skater to the THPS 1+2 remasters and is one of the sport’s most well-known modern day figures, so his claims hold plenty of validity.

Now though, we’ve got a smoking gun. As was spotted by CharlieIntel, on full display in the new version of Grind in Black Ops 6 you’ll find a sign with a date and a silhouette of a skateboarder, surrounded in the same oval border that you find on the logo of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. The date reads 03.04.25, and that’s exciting for two reasons. First, that date is less than two weeks away. And second, that specific date may also be suggesting that remasters of both THPS 3 and THPS 4 are on the way.

Oh, and Tony Hawk himself has responded to CharlieIntel’s post about this easter egg with an ‘eyes’ emoji. Between how blatant this easter egg is, the timing of Jones’ leak, and Hawk’s reply, this feels all but confirmed.

So, you can expect an announcement about the future of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series on Tuesday, March 4.

As for the rest of Black Ops 6’s Season 2 Reloaded update, there’s plenty to sink your teeth into alongside Grind. There’s a bizarre and chaotic looking new Strike map, Bullet, which is set on a moving train and is essentially one long straight line. There’s a new perk for your loadouts. And next week, the aforementioned Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles event gets underway, plus there are cosmetic skins of all four turtles and Splinter.
