Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies could use a boost of adrenaline, and Season 2 Reloaded might just end up providing it. Following the release of its divisive Tomb map, and continued criticism of Black Ops 6 Zombies’ voice actor situation, public opinion has shifted a bit regarding Treyarch’s latest game. While it was extremely well received at launch, and its post-launch map Citadelle Des Morts was a hit with the community, The Tomb being a letdown for a significant portion of the community means that there is a good deal of pressure on the midseason update and its limited-time mode.
Thus far, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies fans have had access to two limited-time modes, those being Jingle Hells and Dead Light, Green Light. While the incredibly tough Jingle Hells had its share of fans, as it had a solid gameplay loop and gave a taste of what it would be like if modern Zombies lacked easy-to-acquire armor, the Squid Game-themed mode was significantly less popular. Fortunately, Black Ops 6’s upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover is bringing what seems to be an exciting LTM to Zombies, as it addresses the key flaws with the previous attempts: replayability and rewards.

Call of Duty fans mock an upcoming multiplayer map for Black Ops 6’s Season 2 Reloaded update as it appears to recreate an iconic meme.
Why Cowabunga Cranked Is Poised to Be Highly Replayable
Perhaps the biggest thing working in Cowabunga Cranked’s favor is that it is playable on all four of the current Zombies maps. Unlike Jingle Hells, which was restricted to Liberty Falls, and the Citadelle Des Morts-exclusive Dead Light, Green Light, players can play TMNT Cranked on all of Zombies’ currently available arenas. This alone could push players to put more time into Cranked than they did with the other limited time modes, as whenever they get bored of the modified rules on one map, they can simply switch over to another to see how Cranked feels in a different setting.
Another major plus is that players will not have the Black Ops 6 camo grind negatively impacted by Cowabunga Cranked, as they spawn in with their loadouts. This is a welcome change, as Jingle Hells forced camo grinders to use wall weapons or get lucky with a present drop to find the gun they were wishing to work on. Additionally, players do not need to worry about a round limit or forced exfil, which was an approach used for Dead Light, Green Light that caused many to abandon the mode. Main quest Easter eggs will also be enabled, which will undoubtedly be more difficult since players need to keep slaying the undead in between completing all the steps.
Cowabunga Cranked has unique elements besides its kill timer. Pizza power-ups temporarily grant maxed out Black Ops 6 melee weapons and extra health, as well as extra time. Additionally, the Donny’s Time Stopper Field Upgrade gives players the freedom to approach the mode tactically and stop the timer when they think it will help to do so.
Cowabunga Cranked’s Exclusive Calling Cards May Be Its Secret Weapon
While Jingle Hells did let gamers do the main quest Easter eggs on Liberty Falls, it did not provide them with a special reward for completing it, something that dedicated players were disappointed by. Fortunately, just like with the complaints about Mangler spawns and Directed mode camo grinding, Treyarch has clearly listened to the community. For every main quest players manage to finish within Cranked, they will receive a “subtly different” variant of the quest’s calling card. Even if this is just a recolor of the calling card’s artwork, and a different symbol in place of the gold skull that marks early completions, it is still something new for players to chase. Given how hard it will be to complete something like The Tomb’s main quest with an added Cranked timer, the calling card for doing it will undoubtedly be a badge of honor for gamers to show off. This reward, combined with loadouts, multiple maps, and no forced exfil, could make Cowabunga Cranked a massive success.

Forced to go rogue. Hunted from within. This is Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
Developed by Treyarch and Raven, Black Ops 6 is a spy action thriller set in the early 90s, a period of transition and upheaval in global politics, characterized by the end of the Cold War and the rise of the United States as a single superpower. With a mind-bending narrative, and unbound by the rules of engagement, this is signature Black Ops.
The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
