Avowed is an action RPG that, unlike other role-playing games in the genre, doesn’t treat classes in the same way that other RPGs do. Players Come Equipped With A Grimoire And A Wand
While many other classes in Avowed tend to use the typical methods of combat such as swords, bows, and axes, those that decide on the Wizard class will become open to the destruction that can be caused when wielding a wand and a grimoire. Players will have access to all sorts of spells depending on the grimoire they have equipped, while being able to attack using regular attacks with the wand. This, thankfully, doesn’t use more Essence.
However, players may also wish to experiment with other possibilities. Guns are in abundance in Avowed, meaning players may wish to have one equipped at all times. Becoming a gun wizard may not be a player’s first choice, but the potential to cause mayhem with it is incredible.

Its Abilities Can Be Used Out Of Combat
Burn Down Webs Or Freeze Water
Although this magic will be most useful in combat when selecting the wizard class skills at the start, players will also find uses for their grimoire’s magic outside of battle too. While exploring the world of Avowed, players will encounter various obstacles that require certain elemental effects to pass them.
A player may use a companion like Kai to burn down webs, or the various plants, which can be thrown like elemental grenades. Wizards don’t have to worry about this. Since their entire roster of magic experiments with the elements, for a slight Essence cost, a player can use their magic to get around the world.

Players No Longer Need To Worry About Crits
Damage Is The Only Thing To Focus On
Critical hits are a sure way to do a high amount of damage to an enemy but require the player to hit a foe in a certain weak spot. This is a lot easier when using a bow, which makes it a beneficial playstyle for anyone planning on being a Ranger. Meanwhile, a Wizard doesn’t need to worry about ever getting a critical hit on their targets, as spells can’t do critical hit damage.

It may be important for some players to have a wide mix of spells on stand-by to deal with various situations. As a Wizard, a player is free to experiment to find which elemental magic they enjoy using the most and master those methods in their skill tree to give them access to them permanently, since the magic in the Grimoires cannot be changed.

Players Can Hit Multiple Foes At Once
Continuing on the focus of magic, which makes up the majority of the Wizard playstyle, unlike the other class options in Avowed, this class has a heavy focus on not just attacking one enemy, but instead, multiple enemies at once.
While early in the game, players may not have access to spells that can hit multiple foes at once, players that continue to dedicate themselves to playing a Wizard and collecting various Grimoires will finally have access to some of the most overpowered spells in the game. This can make future encounters with multiple enemies quite simple to deal with.

The Envoy the player creates in Avowed must be a Godlike. This is a type of person that has been touched by the gods since birth, which gives them not only some peculiar features but also certain abilities.
