Apex Legends has released a new update for February 2025 that makes adjustments to several weapons and characters, with Ash getting hit with a substantial nerf. In addition, the patch brings a change to the Assualt class to help balance the roster of characters in Apex Legends.

Apex Legends launched Season 24 on February 11. While the season lacked a new hero or map, Respawn Entertainment brought sweeping changes to the battle royale’s weapons and characters. Following the rework of the Support class last season, the developers turned their attention to the Assault class in Season 24. With the seasonal update, Assault characters received a suite of new perks, including Combat Reserve, Stowed Reload, and Battle Surge. In addition, Ash and Ballistic received some major improvements to their kits. However, it seems the developer is looking to dial back some of these changes.

Apex Legends’ latest season made some great changes, but Respawn’s in-the-works 2.0 update still has a lot to do to save the game.

On February 19, Respawn released a new update for Apex Legends that adjusted several guns and Legends. Specifically, the Assault class in Apex Legends was hit with a nerf that affects the new Battle Surge perk. As of the new patch, the scan feature has been reduced from four to two seconds after breaking an opponent’s shields. In addition to the general nerf to the class, the double Ultimate upgrade for Ash has been moved to level three. As a result, players can no longer have two Passives and Ultimate charges at the same time. Furthermore, the developers doubled the cooldown on Ash’s Passive, Predator’s Pursuit, making it harder for her to chain dashes together.

Apex Legends New February 2025 Update – Patch Notes

Beyond the Assault class changes, the L-Star and Rampage both received a nerf to their damage after receiving buffs at the start of Season 24. In addition, the L-Star now overheats at a slightly faster rate, making it not as forgiving to use. One final change was to the previously reworked Mirage, with his health bars not showing up when scanned by the Assault class.

It will be interesting to see how these new changes impact the Apex Legends meta in Season 24. So far, this season has created big changes to player pick rates, with Ash becoming the most popular Legend in the game. According to Apex Legends Status, she has a 27.1% pick rate, the highest ever recorded in the battle royale. A big reason for this popularity surge is her new Passive, Predator’s Pursuit, which allows her to dash while in the air. Paired with the movement boost from the Battle Surge perk, she can be incredibly mobile on the battlefield. Time will tell if these adjustments are enough to make her pick rate drop.

Hopefully, Respawn will continue to listen to feedback and make adjustments to characters and weapons moving forward. While the game has seen a resurgence in player numbers with the release of the new season, it may need to keep making changes if players are to stick around throughout the remainder of the season.
