Summary

  • Vegeta’s lack of character evolution in Daima has fans questioning if he’ll finally shine or remain in Goku’s shadow.
  • Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta’s strength fell short in Daima, sparking discussions about his potential Super Saiyan 4 transformation.
  • The possibility of a Super Saiyan 4 fusion with Gogeta to defeat powerful foes in Daima excites fans and adds depth to the story.

The world of Dragon Ball Daima follows transformations that remain essential to its development and recent episodes have been quite proof of that. The series received a major development in Episode 18 when Goku achieved his long-awaited Super Saiyan 4 transformation, which fans had been waiting for since its Dragon Ball GT debut. The moment has sparked fresh conversation about a possible Super Saiyan 4 transformation for Vegeta and his future path through the story.

Since episode 1 of Daima, Vegeta has hardly experienced any substantial character evolution and fans have observed that his story has lacked complexity throughout most of Daima. When Vegeta unexpectedly transformed into Super Saiyan 3, it displayed his unstoppable drive yet failed to even make any potential difference against opponents of such strength as King Gomah. This begs the question: will he finally get the spotlight he deserves and go toe-to-toe in terms of power against his rival or will Goku be the only hero of the show?

The Prince of all Saiyans’ Potential and Well-Deserved Transformation

Vegeta has possibly been one of the most intriguing characters of the Dragon Ball series since the series started. Even though he is a strong fighter, relentless but hardly having achieved much for the team in Dragon Ball Daima, he still has not received the proper attention and love he deserves. Yet unlike with other characters, much of the narrative power has been invested in other transformations and fights, which are equally or even more fascinating. We see Vegeta’s character transform from a brash, self-centered and cold-blooded warrior into a man who stands for his pride, his family and his race.

This was the perfect time to further explore his character. Even GT had its great moments, although very few, but we saw Vegeta turn into a responsible and mature husband and father while still training to protect what he loves and be on par with Goku. Super focused so much on gods and new characters that even though Vegeta was trying to surpass Goku, his character ultimately felt like nothing that happened at the end of DBZ mattered that much. Although his Super Saiyan 3 transformation was visually exciting and fans were not expecting it, his strength was not even enough to go up against antagonists such as the demon king.

The Evolution of Transformations In Daima

From Super Saiyan 3 to Super Saiyan 4 and Beyond

In the Dragon Ball series, transformations have formed part of the fight patterns across the series. It’s still a nice twist that several characters in the series have been shown to dazzle their fans; the Super Saiyan 3 appearance has also left something to be desired for Vegeta. That form, while imposing, was somewhat like a last ditch—a brilliant spectacle that, however, was not quite on par with the might of the demon king.

In Dragon Ball GT, Vegeta attained the super Saiyan fourth level through a unique procedure. Since Vegeta did not have a Saiyan’s tail, which is necessary for the transformation, Bulma came up with a way to assist him. She made a contraption to mimic Blutz Waves, which transformed Vegeta into a Great Golden Ape. By willpower and control, Vegeta then evolved this form into the Supreme Saiyan 4. This transformation was pure and primitive; it represented the true nature of his Saiyan soul as well as his indomitable will.

You may have invaded my mind and my body, but there’s one thing a Saiyan always keeps – HIS PRIIIIIIDE! — Vegeta

However, in Daima, it is highly unlikely to achieve this very method. The current storyline is presented as a story, and it is about Neva, an elder Namekian and the one who created the Dragon Balls of the Demon Realm. Neva gives his power to Goku, as he is worthy of it because of his kind spirit and courage. For Vegeta to attempt the Super Saiyan 4 transformation, similar help could be needed. Having Neva acknowledge Vegeta’s growth and strength, he might grant him the energy for this transformation. This act would not only increase Vegeta’s power level but also make him a hero in the eyes of the Namekian elder.

The Trump Card: Super Saiyan 4 Fusion

Gogeta—The Most Exciting Ultimate Finale

However, if Vegeta’s Super Saiyan 4 is not enough to shift the tide in battle, then Dragon Ball Daima might be hinting at an even bigger and more significant turn: Super Saiyan 4 fusion. Fusion is one of the most powerful of all techniques in the franchise. But in this case, it seems that Gogeta is the one more suitable for comparison. His first appearance as Super Saiyan 4 in Dragon Ball GT is unforgettable, and, therefore, his return in Daima would not only be exciting for fans, but could also make a lot of sense when it comes to defeating Gomah. Since King Gomah has been revealed to be incredibly powerful—even to the point of overpowering Goku Super Saiyan 4 like it was nothing—only fusion could well be the only way to defeat him.

This potential fusion is even more convincing when considering the storyline motivations or background that come with it. In Dragon Ball GT, this was seen in Super Saiyan 4, Gogeta, who was portrayed more or less as the ultimate warrior, so powerful that Omega Shenron could not stand a chance against him. However, like many overpowered characters, he had one weakness—overconfidence. If they are to achieve this form in Daima, it could be a nice twist, and added to it, it is both a redemption for their previous failure and a growth from the improvement of their battle instinct.

In GT, Gogeta’s playful demeanor took time, which would not be the case in Daima’s iteration of Super Saiyan 4. Gogeta was present, as he knows the severity of the fight. Since the Dragon Ball series is incorporating ideas from other arcs from the GT already, this would be a great way to introduce nostalgia with originality; therefore, Gogeta’s return would be more exciting, and fans would absolutely love it.
