Diablo, Obedient Raven

More Early Card Draw For Amethyst

The Diablo, Obedient Raven card from Disney Lorcana by artist Jennifer Wu.

Stat wise, this card may not seem like one of the best from the set, but that’s the trouble with looking at stats alone. Diablo, Obedient Raven is not only an easy target for a Floodborn shift (if he survives) he fits a perfect spot in the Amethyst meta of cards that allow you to draw more cards. Previously, Kuzco – Wanted Llama

saw tons of play as the card that let you draw when he was banished.

Diablo, Obedient Raven does the same, except he’s half the cost to play. Low cost characters that allow you to draw a card under certain conditions such as Chernabog’s Followers – Creatures of Evil

, Magic Broom – Illuminary Keeper

, and now Diablo, Obedient Raven are healthy options for replenishing your hand, and quick and cost-efficient bounce targets for all the higher-cost amethyst cards that need a bounce target. Low-cost efficiency is great for any deck, and you’ll see a lot of this Diablo floating around Amethyst.

Lilo, Escape Artist

Return From The Discard, But With A Cost

The Lorcana card Lilo Escape Artist by Grezegorz Krysinski.

The first of her kind, Lilo, Escape Artist, says that at the start of your turn, if she is in your discard, you may play her, and she enters play exerted. This means that as long as you have two ink, you can consistently return her to the field to keep pressure on your opponent. She quests for two, and while her Strength is low, if she’s played from your discard, she can disrupt your opponent who is looking to clear your board, or she can be a nice body on board after a board wipe.

If she isn’t handled within the turn, you get to quest for two lore on your next turn without too much fear, as you can just bring her back once she’s banished. The mechanic alone makes her one of the best cards from the set, but the utility and opportunity she provides cements her on the list.

Amber Steel players rejoice, as an undamaged Pluto, Guard Dog can provide protection for your low cost, low Willpower Amber cards while also providing some much-needed Strength early on. Without damage, this four cost inkable card has a 5/5 stat line thanks to his ability Good Boy, which gives him +4 Strength when he has no damage.

Keep your characters protected with these Bodyguard Lorcana cards.

Pluto, Guard Dog becomes an early-game powerhouse useful in any Steel deck. Couple this with his Bodyguard and your opponent will find difficulty taking him out early without some form of removal or some specific cards such as Maui – Hero to All (Enchanted)

. And even then, an undamaged Pluto, Guard Dog forces a trade with Maui, Hero to All. While pinging him with damage from anything will make him much less of a threat, he lives up to his name as a guard dog easily.

Go Go Tomago, Dreaded Dynamo

Gain Lore For A Low Cost

Go Go Tomago, Darting Dynamo Lorcana Card.

Go Go Tomago, Dreaded Dynamo

Able to take out the dreaded Diablo – Devoted Herald

while also setting up some great opportunities to gain free lore, Go Go Tomago, Dreaded Dynamo is as good as she looks. Inexpensive to play with the Evasive Keyword, she’s a pesky character to have on board, and unless your opponent has Evasive characters or some specific removal, she can get you a lot of value.

Depending on the Emerald color matchup, Emerald/Steel players can sing damaging songs, such as Let The Storm Rage On

or even better, And Then Along Came Zeus (Enchanted)

, if your opponent can survive it. Having sung this song, you’ll still have ink left to play Go Go, and pay the two ink to gain five lore instantly. Amethyst Emerald has some nice rush characters that can pop damage, then dropping Go Go will once again net you some lore for just two ink, with a body on board that’s Evasive for survival, ready to be bounced and played again for even more lore gain.

Baymax, Armored Companion

An Ability With Multiple Effects

The Lorcana card Baymax Armored Companion by Brianna Garcia.

There’s a reason Rapunzel – Gifted with Healing

is such a popular card all these sets later. In Amber, she’s great for not only healing but also giving the color some much-needed card draw. Baymax has a similar ability, except instead of card draw, you gain lore. His ability The Treatment Is Working says that when you play him and when he quests, you can remove up to 2 damage from a chosen character and gain one lore for each damage removed this way.

While it’s one less than Rapunzel, the lore instead of the card draw is just as potent. Even better than Rapunzel, this can happen every time you quest with this character, and the six Willpower and two lore he has will ensure you’re still making your way to the 20 lore needed to win. Cards that work not only on play but when you quest too are rare, and Baymax not only heals your cards but also provides additional lore on a very decent body.

Simba, Pride Protector

Save Your Other Characters From Being Challenged

The Lorcana card Simba Pride Protector by Kendall Hale.

Amber is a great color for flooding the board. However, it has several low-cost cards with low Willpower that will quickly be eliminated if they stay exerted after questing big for their costs. That’s where Simba, Pride Protector, comes in and where he gets his name. Understand The Balance allows you to ready all your other characters if he is exerted at the end of your turn.

This creates a great opportunity to safely quest in with all your characters, then quest with Simba for two more lore, and on your opponent’s turn, unless they have some removal, they’ll be unable to challenge anything but Simba. While it can be thwarted in several ways, it’s still a great addition to Amber.

Alice, Savvy Sailor

Protection And Extra Lore All Wrapped In One

Ward is one of the strongest keywords in the game, protecting your characters from being chosen by actions, songs and more. With so many decks relying on targeted removal of tricky characters, Alice, Savvy Sailor not only protects your characters, she gives them an additional lore to quest with. While the Ward itself is great, her ability to help you get even closer to your goal of 20 lore.

Her ability Ahoy!, is so clutch in any situation, especially because it grants both Ward and an additional lore, great for rush decks with characters that can be removed with songs or actions like Brawl

, or from being targeted by characters like Madame Medusa – The Boss

and items like Ice Block

. She even has Ward herself. Unfortunately she will be in danger because she has to quest to get Ahoy! to work, but you’ll get two lore for your troubles, and without full removal like Under The Sea

or Be Prepared

, she can’t be chosen to be removed, and you’ll be forced to challenge into her. Different deck combinations have ways of protecting her, so she’s one of the best cards from Azurite Sea.

Genie, Wish Fulfilled

Overrated? Maybe, Useful, Absolutely!

The Lorcana card Genie Wish Fulfilled by Veronica Di Lorenzo and Livio Caccitore.

One of the most expensive Rare cards in Azurite Sea, Genie, Wish Fulfilled, is in high demand and for good reason. Evasive can be a difficult keyword to deal with, and this Genie is not only evasive with four Willpower to survive other evasive characters, but he also has the added benefit of doing what Amethsy does best, giving you more cards.

Disney Lorcana: The 10 Most Valuable Non-Enchanted Cards In Azurite Sea

Disney’s Lorcana has tons of valuable cards to collect from Azurite Seas, and these non-enchanted ones are going for top dollar.

His ability, What Comes Next, lets you draw a card when he’s played. Similar to the strategy of Merlin – Rabbit

, he makes for a decent bounce subject to play again for another card to draw. Though Merlin, Rabbit is stronger for card draw, Genie’s evasive ensures that without removal or a higher cost Evasive card, he will stay on the field. If you can’t get rid of him, he will also net you two lore every time he quests.

Maui, Half Shark

So Much Good In A Single Card

Sometimes, cards just seem outright unbalanced, like they’re just too powerful. Maui, Half Shark falls into this category. With a great stat line and the Evasive keyword, you’ll basically need some form of removal to deal with this hard hitting shark. Most of your average Evasive characters have a lower Strength stat, so without boosting their Strength somehow (Amethyst using Merlin – Crab

on an Evasive character in the same color), you’ll be scrambling to get him off the field. Even then, anything you throw at him to attack will likely be banished against his 7 Strength.

If that lovely stat line and Evasive weren’t enough, he has two very good abilities. CHEEEEHOOOO! brings an action card from your discard back to your hand when he challenges, and Wayfinding says whenever you play an action, you gain one lore. In a color full of strong songs and actions before even combining it with another color combo, this Maui can collect on several lore in a single turn, as Wayfinding doesn’t require him to be exerted to gain lore. Ruby also has several ways to ready a card again, so you can just cycle getting back the actions you’ve played from the discard into your hand, and play them again to gain even more lore. It’s a cycle your opponent will hate to go up against.

If you’re going up against a deck with Sapphire in it, you’re almost guaranteed to see four copies of Sail The Asurite Sea in that deck. As a two cost card, it’s cheap, inkable, and it replaces itself by allowing you to draw a card. If that wasn’t enough, you can also drop an additional card in your inkewll facedown when you play it. Unlike some other cards, it doesn’t have to be exerted, so you’re giving yourself an extra ink and card draw on your turn.

Sail The Azurite Sea can be such a huge tempo-shifting card, giving you enough ink to play what you need in a color that is almost exclusively designed to help with ramping up more ink than your opponent can. Combined with other ramp cards in Sapphire, along with the staple card draw a Hiram Flaversham – Toymaker

provides with a Pawpsicle

and you’ve got ramp and card draw while also replenishing your hand and sifting through your deck.
