Summary
- A new set of posters for The Last of Us Season 2 has given us our first clear look at Kaitlyn Dever’s version of Abby.
- In the poster, we see Abby walking over a necklace with the symbol of the Fireflies on it, covered in mushrooms.
- We can also see that controversial lack of muscle that Druckmann alluded to n a recent interview.
Last month, HBO finally gave us a date revealing when the next season of The Last of Us will be hitting our TV screens, as well as a new trailer with a lot of little teasers and the first proper footage of Kaitlyn Dever’s portrayal of Abby. Unfortunately, most of it was of flashback Abby, with the only footage of her grown up was of her pinned under a fence. Not the best viewing.
Thankfully, a new set of posters released for The Last of Us Season 2 has rectified that little problem, each one with a focus on one of the show’s main characters. Joel, Ellie, and Abby all have posters, the latter of which giving us a good clear look at Abby as she’ll appear in what you would assume will be the main bulk of the show.
The Last of Us Season 2 Posters Reveals First Clear Look At Abby
The posters themselves are pretty slick, each one showing off a character on a pure white background, walking over a symbolic item covered in mushrooms. While we don’t see Abby’s face, we do get a good look at her stature, and it’s very clear that Abby is nowhere near as buff in the show as she is in the game, which is something that director Neil Druckmann alluded to in a recent interview.
While you could possibly explain away Abby’s lack of buffness by pointing to the show’s flashback scenes, Druckmann claimed that it just wasn’t something that the team was concerned with. Season 2 will apparently be “more about the drama” than violence, though it’s worth pointing out that Abby’s size was a key aspect of her character.

Abby Isn’t Abby Without Her Muscles In The Last Of Us
Narratively, thematically, and visually, Abby’s muscles matter.
The Last of Us Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on April 13, so there’s plenty of time for HBO and Naughty Dog to tease us a little more with some new trailers. There’s no doubt Dever has the skills to play the part, and she still does like quite intimidating in Abby’s poster despite the lack of muscle, though we’ll have to wait and see whether the show pulls it off.
