In a Reddit thread, Marvel fans discussed the post-credit scene from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The scene features Shang-Chi (Simu Liu) and Katy (Awkwafina) after Wong (Benedict Wong) takes them to Kamar-Taj, where they meet Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) via hologram. They analyze the Ten Rings, which are emitting a mysterious signal. However, none could exactly say what it was. “From now on the trajectory of your lives will be like nothing you’v ever experienced before and there’s no going back. You both have a long journey ahead of you,” Wong tells Shang-Chi and Katy. He advised the duo to go home and rest. However, the scene ended up with the trio enjoying a karaoke session.

Apparently, many are looking forward to knowing what happens next. “Is this post-credit scene going to be addressed???” the original poster asked. One user admitted that they assumed the scene would tie into Shang-Chi 2 and set up Shang Chi’s involvement in Avengers and that he would be part of the fifth Avengers movie. Many shared the same assumptions. However, it has been nearly five years since the first Shang-Chi movie was released, and there’s no update on the sequel. Additionally, Shang-Chi has never appeared in any MCU film. “Shang-Chi should have popped up in another project by now, even in just a post-credit scene or something,” another user wrote. A different Reddit user said Liu’s Shang-Chi was “the most wasted talent by the MCU by far.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings performed well at the box office and received positive critical acclaim despite being released post-pandemic. Its global box office total surpassed $360 million. Shang-Chi 2 has been greenlit, but there’s no progress about the anticipated sequel despite the first film being a commercial and critical success. So, fans’ concern about the unanswered post-credit scene is reasonable. However, despite the delay, the sequel is reportedly happening. In August 2024, Liu said the second film is “definitely happening.” He shared his excitement about the project and even teased what fans could expect from it. “So, just very excited to kind of work on it and it’s going to be amazing. I really can’t say anything beyond that,” Liu added. With Shang-Chi 2 happening, fans will likely find answers about the nature of the Ten Rings in the next film.
