Lies of P is finally set to receive its long-awaited downloadable expansion. Formally announced at the latest PlayStation State of Play, Lies of P: Overture will offer a new story for fans of the original game to explore. Set before the events of the base game, this prequel DLC will bring gamers back to the world of Krat for what looks to be another epic adventure.
Beyond fans getting their first proper look at the DLC, Lies of P: Overture also received an official release window, as the expansion will be available this Summer. So far, though, developers NeoWiz Games and Round8 Studio have not committed to a specific date, leaving the window for release particularly broad. This, however, could serve as a blessing for the game, as it gives the developers a lot of space to play around with.

Lies of P: Overture Could Space Itself Between Major Releases
Setting Lies of P: Overture for a broad Summer release window means that the developers will not necessarily have to commit to a certain date just yet. This will allow them to survey the landscape of new game releases and give the expansion enough distance to help it stand out in a crowded market. 2025’s game lineup is already looking stacked with even more to come, so NeoWiz and Round8 will certainly want to give themselves time between other major titles.
For example, with a game like Elden Ring Nightreign currently locked in for a May 30 release date, NeoWiz and Round8 may want to give themselves a bit of space given that FromSoftware’s multiplayer spin-off could prove very popular. Additionally, with a major title like Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater expected to launch on August 28, the developers may pull back from a late Summer release to avoid competition with what could be one of the year’s biggest games. There’s still time to assess the upcoming release schedule to figure out where Lies of P: Overture will fit.
Lies of P: Overture’s Release Doesn’t Have To Be As Explosive As Before
It should be noted that NeoWiz and Round8 may not have to get too imaginative with Lies of P: Overture’s release date given its standing as an expansion. Of course, this project should be extremely important to the developer, but as it’s not the next major title in the franchise, it won’t need to have nearly the same promotion that a proverbial Lies of P 2 would. For all intents and purposes, this prequel is merely meant to be a holdover until the next full game is ready to go.
As a title that will more than likely be download-only, the developers could potentially release Lies of P: Overture at any time that they choose, and even go for a shadow drop if that suits the project best – though this is obviously just speculation, as there is nothing to suggest that will happen. Regardless, the expansion will not have to go through the same hype cycle that the original game did, meaning Neowiz and Round 8have the freedom to market and release as they please.

Lies of P: Overture’s Summer Window Gives More Time For Polish
Lies of P: Overture having a broad Summer window is also a boon for the DLC’s development, as it gives a little leeway in putting the finishing touches on it. NeoWiz and Round8 could spend more time polishing the expansion to ensure it is in its best possible form before committing to a proper release date. This will increase the chances of it having a smooth launch with no major bugs or glitches getting in the way.
The wait for Lies of P: Overture is getting closer to paying off as it gears up for a Summer release. Even though it’s unclear when in the Summer the game will be released, the commitment to a broad window guarantees the developers will have plenty of chances to set themselves up for success. No matter when it officially releases, Lies of P: Overture will hopefully be a fantastic holdover while fans wait for the proper sequel.
