Marvel Rivals has been in the news for all the good reasons since launch. However, we recently learnt that NetEase laid off director Thaddeus Sasser and his entire team from Seattle. The studio cited “organizational reasons” and a need to “optimize development efficiency”, but also said that the core team is still working on the game.

Marvel Rivals Sets Outrageous Expectations With Season 1

No matter how NetEase tries to reset expectations, there will be a lot of disappointment in Marvel Rivals’ future.

February 21 is going to be a big day for the game, as we’ll not only get the new Central Park map, transformed to house Dracula’s castle, but the Fantastic Four roster will be complete with The Thing and Human Torch coming in. We also got showcase videos for both characters, and it seems fans were quite impressed with the latter’s team up with Storm.

FireStorm

The trailer for Human Torch was filled with fire, flair, and the cockiness of Johnny Storm. A flying dualist who can rain fire down on his opponents, slam down in a blast, and even control areas, Human Torch seems like he may be an upgrade to Iron Man. However, it was his team up with another Storm that really caught everyone’s eye. No, not his sister, I’m talking about the goddess of thunder.

Storm, the omega-level mutant from the X-Man contingent, is a force of nature by herself. But her team up with Human Torch creates a massive fire tornado that can decimate opponents unfortunate enough to get caught in its path. The team up move seems like it would be perfect for tight spaces and corridors, where it could possibly wipe entire teams.

While Human Torch’s trailer was quite impressive overall, it was this team up that really got people talking in the comments section as well as on Reddit. While some commented that they were terrified of it, most of the comments were about how they couldn’t wait to unleash it upon their opponents.

Coming back to the trailer for the Central Park map, we also got our first official look at Blade. However, no other details about the daywalker were shared.
