A happy Henry is a deadly Henry, and in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you can get a number of useful buffs if you can manage your alcohol intake. The Drinking skill lets players harness the true power of drunken revelry, but doing so isn’t as simple as one might think.

Unlike Warfare or Survival in KCD2, Drinking comes with some risk and a barrier for entry. You need to cough up enough dosh to get the drinks you need, and you need to take care not to get any lasting side effects as a result of power leveling the skill. Here’s what you need to know to level up Drinking as fast as possible.

Unsurprisingly, the best way to level up the Drinking skill is to consume copious amounts of alcohol. However, there are a couple of problems here that you’ll need to deal with. One, alcohol costs a lot of money, and two, drinking too much booze leads to alcoholism.

Where to Get Alcohol (& Money)

Location of the Kuttenberg Vineyard in KCD2

Every tavern in Bohemia sells alcohol. If you’re just starting out in the Trosky region, we recommend going to the Zhelejov Wagoner’s Inn west of Troskowitz — here, you can buy some beer and wine, and you can rent a bed for the long-term too (you’ll need it later on). Also, you’ll need to find some way to earn a lot of money in KCD2 if you want to power-level the Drinking skill. We recommend brewing and selling Chamomile and Marigold Decoctions.

Merchants restock their wares every two in-game days. If the Zhelejov inn runs out of booze, buy some in Troskowitz. Once both are out of stock, wait for two days and check again. If you’ve reached Kuttenberg and you want an unlimited source of alcohol, head to the wine cellar of the vineyard on the map above. It’ll have all the alcohol you’ll need, but you’ll have to steal them.

How to Power Level The Drinking Skill in KCD2

Before you start power-leveling, make sure to bring large quantities of both alcohol and non-perishable food (like Dried Beef). Once you’ve acquired both, lock yourself in your room and start drinking. If you ever become too full to drink, sleep until your Nourishment level drops, then drink some more. It takes about 200 drinks to get the Drinking skill from level 10 to about level 19.

How to Deal with Alcoholism in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

As you drink alcohol, Henry will start getting addicted to it. It will start with the Saliva debuff, which serves as an addiction warning. Then, it’ll gradually devolve into Obsession, which will sap 10 points from all your attributes while reducing your stamina regeneration significantly. To get rid of these debuffs, you need to wait it out. Hair o’ the Dog potions for curing hangovers and drunkenness won’t help with addiction, so you’ll need to wait and sleep until it goes away.

Once you’re satisfied with your Drinking level, you’ll want to deal with alcoholism as soon as you can. All you have to do is stay in your room and sleep the days away. Eat your Dried Beef to avoid starvation, and completely abstain from drinking any more alcohol. The worse your alcohol addiction is, the more time you need to spend recovering. Depending on your addiction level, a complete recovery can take up to two in-game months.
