Throughout Avowed players run into several Companion characters who can be recruited to join their party, offer aid in combat, advice in dialogues, and other help throughout the game. Though you can’t directly change the way Companions look in Avowed, Companion outfits can be swapped between a handful of options, if you have them unlocked.

Depending on whether you have the Standard edition or Premium edition of Avowed, Companion outfits may or may not be unlocked. This guide explains how to get Companion outfits in Avowed, and how to change skins between the three available options.
How To Unlock Alternate Companion Outfits In Avowed
To unlock Companion costumes, you must purchase the Avowed Premium Edition. This deluxe version of Avowed grants a variety of in-game rewards, including two outfits for every Companion.
These will automatically be available when you launch the game with no in-game prerequisites, except to reach the point where you can change Companion costumes.
On its own, Avowed Premium Edition costs $90. But if you are playing Avowed via Xbox Game Pass, it only costs $25 to upgrade. However, this Game Pass edition upgrade won’t grant access to the base game if Avowed ever gets removed from the Game Pass library.
How To Change Companion Outfits In Avowed
To change Companion clothing, Avowed players must first make Camp. After completing the tutorial area, and after recruiting Kai to your party upon entering Dawnshore, head north from the port to find the Ivona’s Threshold Adra Stone. Interact with the Adra Stone to set up your first Party Camp.
Any Adra Stone you find in Avowed can be used to create a party camp either by interacting with it or fast-traveling to it once unlocked.
When in camp, look for a tent to the right of the Adra Stone itself – the entrance to the tent should have a small icon resembling a piece of clothing.
- If you have Avowed Premium Edition, swap Companion outfits as you see fit by interacting with this tent.
- If you have the Standard edition of the game, you will be able to see the Companion Outfit Tent and open the menu, but only the default skin will be available.
There are three costumes available for each Companion: the default skin, which all players have, the Eora skin, and the Obsidian skin.
Once you have made your selections, simply exit the menu, then walk up to your Companions at camp to see them immediately adorned in their new outfits! This decision is not permanent – Companion appearances in Avowed can be swapped any time you are in camp by interacting with the Companion Outfit tent again.
