The potential for both an expansion and Hogwarts Legacy 2 feels more likely than ever. The aforementioned teases of Hogwarts Legacy and HBO’s live-action Harry Potter show being intertwined in some capacity makes it clear that Warner Bros. is eyeing the RPG as a vehicle to expand the greater wizarding universe. Of course, DLC has yet to be officially confirmed by developer Avalanche Software, but this isn’t the first time rumors of an expansion have circulated the internet.
Last year, Insider Gaming reported that a Hogwarts Legacy DLC was in the works that would offer players an exciting amount of extra content. Now that DLC rumors have been kicked back up again, there may be some weight to such claims. Reports like these should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed, but Avalanche Software also has yet to deny the claims, which could be a promising sign. Despite launching early in 2023, Hogwarts Legacy still managed to keep up with a year’s worth of massive competition in one of the industry’s busiest years yet. Hogwarts Legacy was a massive hit for Warner Bros., so a hefty expansion and sequel definitely wouldn’t be an outlandish decision by the company. With such impressive sales numbers that continue to grow, it only makes sense for extra post-launch content to be added to the base game. Hogwarts Legacy is a fun ride, but it still has plenty of room to grow. It’s by no means a perfect game, and some of its content can feel a little bit lacking, which would make the announcement of DLC that much more exciting.
HBO’s Harry Potter series is currently in the process of casting. Early reports are suggesting that John Lithgow is in final negotiations to play Dumbledore, but this has yet to be confirmed.
