Helldivers 2 update 01.002.106 is now available for download. This is the second Helldivers 2 patch that rolled out over the 24-hour period ending February 19.
Arrowhead Game Studios’ hit cooperative shooter has been receiving regular updates since its early 2024 launch. On February 18, a new Helldivers 2 Major Order instructed players to defend Umlaut Sector planet Fenrir III from the Terminids, terrifying insectoid creatures that the developers just expanded with a new subfaction. This content drop arrived alongside another patch, which bumped the game’s version number up to 01.002.105 and introduced a handful of bug and crash fixes.

Less than 24 hours later, Arrowhead Game Studios rollout out yet another update on February 19. Identified by version number 01.002.106, the changelog attached to this release contains just a single item: a fix for a crash caused by the Spore Burst Gloom Bugs. According to the developer, this type of Helldivers 2 Terminids tended to crash the game consistently if too many were killed at once or within a short time span.
New Helldivers 2 Terminid Enemies Are Still Disabled
Arrowhead’s patch notes did not elaborate on the root cause of the newly eliminated issue. This is consistent with the company’s past changelogs, which were mostly on the succinct side. Prior to the release of the 01.002.106 update, the developer announced that it was temporarily disabling new Helldivers 2 enemy types in the Gloom on February 18, citing frequent crashes on high-combat rating missions as the chief reason for the move. The latest patch appears to be a response to this issue, but player reports on social media suggest that Arrowhead hasn’t yet reintroduced the new Terminid subfaction as of this writing, circa 10am ET on February 19.
The 01.002.106 patch is the fifth Helldivers 2 update that has rolled out on PC since the beginning of February 2025. PlayStation gamers received one exclusive update during this period, which optimized the game for the PS5 Pro. The patch raised the game’s resolution in the PS5 Pro Performance mode from 1080p to 1440p, whereas the console’s Quality mode was improved to render native 4K graphics rather than upscaling a 3K image.
While the February 19 update addresses a critical issue with the new type of Terminids, some player grievances about the recently introduced Gloom content still remain. Helldivers 2 fans have recently taken to social media to complain about the new operations being punishingly difficult, to the point that fighting more than a few mutated Terminid enemies feels frustrating. It’s currently unclear whether Arrowhead plans to rebalance this content in the immediate future.
