Hades 2 developer Supergiant Games has been toiling away over the past year, working on, improving, and adding new features to their early access baby. A lot of people have been waiting to dive in, and Supergiant has taken another big step towards the game’s full release by announcing the game’s new Warsong update.
Announced via the Supergiant Games Twitter account earlier today, this is the second Major Update to launch for Hades 2, and adds a bunch of new stuff for players to dive in and try. One of the biggest additions is a new Olympian in the form of Ares, which means a massive selection of new Boons on your future runs, as well as Duos with each existing Olympian.
Hades 2 Warsong Update Adds Ares And Expanded Story
Supergiant explains exactly what’s been added with the Warsong Update in the patch notes on Steam, in which it explains that the “final confrontation of the surface route” has also been added, alongside some expanded story stuff. That alone sounds like a good reason to dive back in, but there are plenty of other new additions to try out too.

Hades 2 Is Taking A Surprisingly Nuanced Approach To Polyamory
Supergiant is planning some very big romantic things for Hades 2.
For example, a new Familiar can be found when you next play, which Supergiant describes as the “last animal companion to join your journey”, while there will also be a lot of revamped Boons to find and try out. On top of, Hades 2 has received a big visual update too, with revamped UI, improved animations across menus, new artwork, and more.
Unfortunately for those waiting, we still don’t know when the game will launch out of early access. We know that the first Hades was in early access for just shy of two years, which means if Hades 2 has a similar development time, we’ll be looking at a 2026 launch. There’s every possibility that it could be quicker this time around, given it’s a sequel and a lot of the legwork was already done in the first game, but we’ll have to wait for official news from Supergiant before we jump to any conclusions.
