How to Solve Dylan and Corey’s Combination Lock in Lost Records: Bloom and Rage

The Dylan and Corey love lock is a mini-puzzle found in Scene 10 of the game called ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ (Tape 1). It’s not to be confused with the Cabin Lock puzzle later on. Swann and the others are exploring the woods of Velvet Cove in order to film clips for their first ever music video, and at one point, Swann will come across a fence that lines the Mikaelsen property (where Kat’s family lives).

Along the wire fence is a bunch of “love locks,” placed by young couples living in Velvet Cove. If you walk over to the fence, you’ll find that you can interact with just one of those locks, and it turns out that it belongs to Dylan and Corey. It has a four-row combination dial with numbers, and to solve it, you need to figure out the right numbers.

If you feel like you need to scramble and find the code somewhere in the immediate area, don’t freak out, because you actually can’t find the code itself until near the end of Tape 1, much later on. Specifically, the code is found on a polaroid of Corey and Dylan inside Corey’s bike bag outside Blue Spruce Bar in Scene 24 (‘Riot Grrrls’). Written on the front of it is their anniversary date, August 27, 1994. This is your key to the code.

After you finish Tape 1, you can use the ‘Scene Selection’ option in the game’s Main Menu to go back to finish the puzzle. Look for Scene 10 in the Scene Selection menu and click it. A prompt will then ask whether you want to replay the scene in Collectible Mode or Story Mode. In this case, pick Collectible Mode, as it allows you to focus on gathering any collectibles you missed the first time around without affecting your story progress.

Replay the scene back up to where Swann finds the fence, interact with Dylan and Corey’s lovelock again, and put in the following code: 0827. This will undo the lock, and the ‘Heartbreak’ achievement/trophy should pop for you.

Remember that you can and should use this same method for any other missing collectibles (such as those elusive Graffiti spots) in the game, as it will help you get closer to that coveted 100% completion.
