There was a time in the 2000s when parkour and zombies were everywhere. This isn’t so much the case these days, but that’s where Dying Light 2 comes in. The sequel to Techland’s rooftop running and infected-infested game is one of the best around, and a temporary event has just made a comeback. After some work, the roguelite Tower Raid mode is back in DL2 – and it’s here to stay.
Dying Light 2 sends protagonist Aiden Caldwell to Villedor. The world has fallen to the undead, and the European city is one of the last places with any life left. The zombie game features an open world where you can use parkour skills to traverse rooftops, and you can even expand to a paraglider and grappling hook to get around. Since launch, Techland has dropped multiple free updates and DLC for the game, and now one of the most inventive bits of extra content is back for good.
The Tower Raid is once again available to all players, and it’s here to stay. The roguelike mode is less about open-world exploration and focuses on run-based challenges instead. You need to climb through floors of a skyscraper that get progressively harder, with special rewards for doing so.

You start by picking from one of four classes. Then, you and up to three more players need to fight through every level in the hope of reaching the top. There are multiple difficulty levels with different amounts of floors and challenges, a unique progression system that rewards you even after failure, and a trader you can go to to make each climb a little easier.
Techland adds that this isn’t the end for the Tower Raid mode, as it’ll be listening to community feedback and refining the experience even further. This time, however, it’s not going anywhere.
Dying Light 2’s Tower Raid is back in the game as a permanent addition right now, for everyone.
