Danganropa creator Kazutaka Kodaka is working on a new game inspired by Persona and Fire Emblem, and it sounds like a recipe for success. In The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy you’ll defend a mystical school from a 100-day-long onslaught. In the process, you’ll wage tactical battles, befriend your fellow classmates, and make choices that determine the school’s ultimate fate. If that sounds like the RPG of your dreams, then you can play its demo right now.
In The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy, you play as Takumi Sumino, an ordinary student living in the Tokyo Residential Complex, before his home is attacked by mysterious monsters. A ghost-like creature named Sirai recruits you in the Special Defense Unit of the Last Defense Academy. Takumi and 14 other students must embrace their new powers to defend the school from bombardment and get to the bottom of its mysteries.
Like the RPG games from which it draws, the battles in The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy take place on a grid, where your students show off their special abilities. Over the game’s 100 days, you’ll fend off escalating attacks. Much like Persona, you can take time between battles to get to know your fellow classmates and explore the wild world outside the school walls. With materials you find in the ruins and the wilderness, you can craft gifts to strengthen the bonds between Takumi and his peers.

You can play The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy demo on Steam right now, while you wait for it to fully release on April 24, 2025. The demo includes the prologue and the first seven in-game days. You can transfer your progress from the demo to the full game too when it arrives. To download the demo, head here.
