- Activision receives backlash for high microtransaction prices in Black Ops 6.
Activision and Call of Duty are no strangers to price-related dramas. Over the years, the series has come under fire for expensive cosmetics and microtransactions, with Black Ops 6 recently suffering the same fate.
Only last month, one player calculated the cost of all cosmetics to be over $800, the Squid Game crossover came under scrutiny for its extortionate prices, and Activision refused to refund a player for a bundle they couldn’t use.

That trend is continuing now, with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration causing a stink due to its overpriced microtransactions.
Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 x TMNT Crossover Once Again Causes A Stink
The upcoming Black Ops 6 x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover will feature a total of seven different skins, five of which will cost CoD points. The four main turtles, Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, will each have their own cosmetics, alongside Splinter and two Foot Clan members.
Previous skins from crossovers like Squid Game and Terminator have cost 2,400 CoD points, and each of the Ninja Turtles is likely to be the same, meaning that, to get all four, you’re looking at 9,600 CoD points. Purchasing 9,500 CoD points will set you back $74.99, and the remaining 100 will cost a couple of bucks.
While the two Foot Clan Operator Skins, which just happen to be the most boring in the event, are available on the free reward pass, Master Splinter is locked behind the Premium Track of the pass. This will cost another 1,100 CoD points to unlock, or $9.99, bringing the total cost of the event to around $90. Naturally, this hasn’t gone down too well with the Black Ops 6 community.
Comparisons were immediately made to Fortnite, which the Ninja Turtles have also graced. Reddit user Against-The-Current said, “On Fortnite, you can get all four of them for $30. The mini-pass was $10, and the game is free-to-play. Fortnite isn’t going anywhere for many years. Meanwhile, you’ll lose all these skins by year’s end. Unless you play Warzone.” They are, of course, referring to the fact that skins don’t carry over from one Call of Duty game to the next, one of the most egregious issues with the series.
Another user, JVKExo, said, “They treat this like a free-to-play game. It’s f***ing absurd,” to which SunDriedToMatto replied, “They’ll keep setting prices at what people will pay, and unfortunately, people keep paying for these.”With sentiment around Black Ops 6 continuing to be rotten and the game’s player count continuing to fall, Activision has a lot of work on its plate.
