Summary
- Spirit Lance: Good for Spellblade builds, but not a must-have due to lower tier ranking.
- Ring Of Fire: Great defensive spell for melee attackers, boosts damage reduction, and medium Essence cost.
- Blast Of Frost: Tricky to acquire, good CC with freezing effect, mid-tier spell with powerful crowd control.

Some spells are better than others, and in this topic, players will find information about Level 10 Spells, and which are better suited for them.

Spirit Lance
An Interesting Concept, But Situational At Best
- Pros: Good for a hybrid melee/Wizard build
- Cons: Situational, High-Risk/Low-Reward
The Spirit Lance is a spell that creates a spear made of light that will automatically replace the main hand weapon (for example, a wand) and can be used as a regular melee spear, only that it creates bursts of magical energy when it hits enemies. These bursts become even stronger and can push back foes if players use the Charged Attack.

Improving this spell at Rank 2 will increase the power of these detonations and the pushback effect, and when taking it to Rank 3, it will increase the total duration of the summoned weapon to 45 seconds. Unfortunately, this spell is on the lower tier of the Level 10 Spells, and though it does significant damage, it is not nearly enough to make it a must-have. But, if players want to try a Spellblade build, this is one of the best spells to add to its kit.

Ring Of Fire
Good Defensive Skill, Great To Fend Off Melee Attackers
- Pros: Great for fending off melee attackers, good damage reduction
- Cons: Brief duration, not useful against ranged targets (which are 70% of the enemies)
With Ring of Fire, players don’t have to worry about enemies coming at melee range to overwhelm them, since when this enchantment is active it will constantly burn whoever enters its circular pattern will receive constant Fire Accumulation. When reaching maximum accumulations, foes will be ignited and take constant Fire damage.
It also increases damage reduction by 15 %, and when ranked up to Rank 2, it will create small explosions that will leave a trail of Fire that will constantly renew the Fire Accumulation effect on enemies. At Rank 3, there’s an additional 5% damage reduction bonus for a total of 20%. Not bad for a defensive-like spell, and it has a medium Essence cost.
3
Blast Of Frost
Good Balance Between CC And Damage
- Pros: Great CC, Lethal when upgraded
- Cons: High Essence Cost, Difficult to get
The Blast Of Frost will be a tricky spell to get, as players need to get a Grimoire of Rime, which isn’t accessible until they reach Fior Mes Iverno (Emerald Stairs). But, when using this spell, players will finally be able to say: this is definitely what an Ice Mage should be doing. It summons a constant stream of Cold energy that can also freeze opponents, and shatter them into pieces.
At Rank 2, it will be possible to use both hands to release a double stream of Cold, with the same properties but a more powerful effect when focused on a single target. At Rank 3, the duration of the channeling increased by 4 seconds. This means that there will be even more crowd control effects and damage unleashed upon the enemies of the Envoy. It is definitely mid-tier because the damage is not as great as a Level 10 spell should be, but the freezing effect compensates for it.
2
Missile Salvo
Auto Aiming Seeking Projectiles With A Final Surprise
- Pros: Auto Aiming Missiles and Exploding barrage at the end, great for Lazy Wizard builds
- Cons: Long Cast Time, Frequently interrupted by melee attackers
The Missile Salvo Spell conjures a sphere of magical energy that will release a constant stream of Magic Missiles that will seek and destroy nearby enemies. Players only need to select the area where they want the sphere to be summoned, sit back, and enjoy the fireworks.

Drawn In Winter unique Axe is a unique-looking weapon you can get in Avowed that lets you freeze enemies like Leviathan Axe in God of War.
At Rank 2, the Sphere will have a big bang finale for the remaining enemies, stunning them and causing severe magical damage. At Rank 3, the sphere shoots more missiles at an even faster rate. It is like having a Gatling gun with auto-aim supporting the Envoy during combat. Truly one of the best spells in the game, and it gets even more powerful when cast using a Grimoire and the improved spell combined.
1
Returning Storm
Cast This In The Middle Of A Fight, And It Will Be Over Soon
- Pros: Great CC, big AoE, utility, Great for any build
- Cons: Short duration, requires combination with other spells to max out efficiency
Returning Storm is the most efficient and powerful Level 10 Wizard spell in Avowed, with a huge AoE that summons lightning strikes and stuns enemies as they struggle to figure out what is going on. This spell is so lethal, that casting it alongside spells like Crackling Bolt can wipe entire groups of enemies in an instant.
Rank 2 of this spell unlocks the ability to Root enemies in place during 4 seconds each time they are struck by a lightning. Meanwhile, Rank 3 will exponentially increase the frequency at which lightning strikes enemies trapped in the circular AoE of the spell. It is most definitely, the best spell to have for a Lightning Mage, and combined with other powerful Godlike abilities, it can turn the battlefield into a one-sided massacre.
