Avowed Is Already a Big Hit On Steam

Avowed is the freshly-released fantasy RPG from Obsidian Entertainment, and the game has already made its mark on the PC platform Steam. The title is a solid addition to February 2025’s release calendar, joining the launch of heavyweight strategy game Civilization 7 and Lost Records: Bloom & Rage from the Life is Strange creators. Avowed has only been on the market for one day in its full capacity, and it’s already taken an impressive standing in the charts.

Avowed is set in the world of Eora and exists in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity, the spiritual successor to the Baldur’s Gate and Icewind Dales series. As an extra special treat for Xbox users, Avowed was added to Game Pass on day one, giving players who own a subscription immediate access to the action RPG at no extra cost.

Is Anyone Else Struggling To Connect With Avowed’s Companions?

Don’t get me wrong, I like Avowed a lot, but I just don’t really like the companions, especially compared to how much I’m enjoying the game’s great exploration and combat. I don’t necessarily think they’re bad characters, but I’m not connecting with them as much as I have with characters in other RPGs and I’m not really all that invested in their stories. Maybe once I get deeper in the game I’ll care more.
