Plot and Background Information
Saku Mizuno and Takeo Otsuka Confirmed Cast Members
My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s follows the unimpressive Akira Oda, a guy whose presence doesn’t leave much of an impression on people who is randomly whisked away to a fantasy world alongside his classmates and gains the role of an assassin. For some reason, he has freakishly high stats, which raises his suspicion as he notices more and more glaring peculiarities with his new situation, eventually learning of an evil scheme and making an enemy of the very king who brought him to this world. The anime is based on the light novel by Matsuri Akai with illustrations by Tozai, which began serialization on the novel-publishing website, Shousetsuka ni Narou in January 2017, before being published by Overlap from November that year.
Hiroyuki Aigamo’s manga adaptation of My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero’s began on Overlap’s Comic Gardo website in July 2018, and has been collected into six volumes as of February 25. The series’ total circulation (print and digital) has exceeded 1.5 million copies. Seven Seas Entertainment licenses distribution of both the light novel and manga in English. The anime is produced by staff at Sunrise, with Nobuyoshi Habara (chief director, Negima!) serving as director, with series composition by Kunihiko Okada (script, Yowamushi Pedal Glory Line), music by Satoshi Igarashi (music, Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!), character designs by Hirona Okada (animation director, Aikatsu!) and Kaori Saito (animation director, Dragon Ball DAIMA [episode 18]), Masahiro Yamane, mecha designer of the classic Magic Knight Rayearth on monster designs and Mitsuru Ishihara as the main animator. Takeo Otsuka (Jinshi, The Apothecary Diaries) voices Akira Oda, while Saku Mizuno (Ryo Yamada, Bocchi the Rock) voices Amelia Rosequartz.
I am Saku Mizuno, and I will play the role of Amelia Rosequartz. Amelia is like a cat, and the expression she shows only to the protagonist, Akira, is very cute. I’m happy to deliver to you Amelia, who becomes more and more adorable as the story progresses. The script is faithful to the original novel, and the battle scenes are well-created. There are so many scenes that I can’t wait to see… and I am honored to be involved in this wonderful work. I hope everyone is looking forward to seeing it!
