Upon entering a challenge, you’re required to equip a Token for each of your two teams. These Tokens provide specific buffs that can significantly influence the outcome of a stage. While some Tokens have unlimited uses, others are limited in number, so strategic allocation is essential.

Notably, in Stage 12: Infinite Torrents, all Tokens can be used without consumption, allowing for unrestricted experimentation.

Complete Guide to Conquering Whimpering Wastes

The Whimpering Wastes game mode is one of the most challenging additions to Wuthering Waves, requiring strategic planning, precise execution, and a deep understanding of Tokens, Resonators, and enemy types. While Stages 9, 10, and 11 are considered the hardest before Infinite Torrents, careful resource management and team compositions can help you secure high scores and maximize rewards. Below are essential tips and strategies to help you clear each stage efficiently.

1. Save Your Best Tokens for the Hardest Stages

Golden Tokens and Plunderer Captain’s Seal are among the strongest buffs available in Whimpering Wastes. Since Stages 9, 10, and 11 are significantly harder than earlier stages, you should save these powerful Tokens for when they matter the most. The Plunderer Captain’s Seal is especially broken in Infinite Mode, allowing you to easily achieve an S rank.

2. Use Infinite Tokens Freely in Stages 1-11

While you might feel the need to hoard Tokens, Infinite Mode offers unlimited uses of all Tokens, so there’s no need to be conservative. Feel free to spend your Tokens liberally during Stages 1-11 to clear them as efficiently as possible.

3. Proper Team Building is Key

You don’t need S-rank scores on all stages to get all the rewards. The best strategy is to build balanced teams that prioritize survivability. A solid strategy is to place at least one healer in each team and focus on Resonators with strong AoE and burst capabilities.

4. Consider Enemy Types in Each Stage

Some stages have Global RES, meaning certain damage types are less effective. However, don’t rely solely on this information—consider actual enemy types as well. For example:

  • Stage 9 (First Half) has Glacio RES, but it also features many Spectro enemies. This makes Carlotta and Jinhsi poor choices, as they will struggle against them.

Always check the Environment Report and adjust your Resonators accordingly.

5. Grouping Enemies is Crucial for Fast Clears

Most early-stage waves contain 10-20 white mobs, which can be cleared quickly with large AoE attacks or grouping strategies. Once these initial waves are eliminated fast, the elite mobs will spawn closer together, making them easier to deal with.

  • Best AoE Resonators: Calcharo, Encore, Yinlin, Taoqi
  • Best Crowd Control: Jianxin, Verina (for heals and grouping)

6. Don’t Stress Over S-Ranking Everything

If you’re aiming for all available rewards, you don’t need to S-rank every stage. A Grade A on Stage 10, for example, is still enough to unlock everything. Focus on consistently clearing stages rather than obsessing over perfect ranks.
