Summary
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 had the third-worst launch of any PlayStation Studios game on Steam.
- The average player count of 13,638 in the first two weeks ranked in the bottom five.
- The game’s review score of 67 percent after two weeks was only better than two other titles.
It’s been around two weeks since Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 launched on PC. The game was immediately met with ‘Mixed’ reviews on Steam, with player sentiment suggesting the port was not up to standard.
The reviews it received have represented a wider problem with the game, and its first two weeks have made it one of the worst in the PlayStation-to-PC pipeline.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Suffers One Of PlayStation Studios’ Worst Steam Launches To Date
For our analysis, we used SteamDB to look at every PlayStation Studios Steam launch, excluding remasters of games already on the Valve-owned platform. We factored in each game’s average player count over the first two weeks and its positive review score percentage over the same period, assigning everything an overall score based on those two factors.
Using this data, we found that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has had the third-worst launch of any PlayStation Studios game on Steam, beaten only by The Last of Us: Part 1 and Returnal.
We found that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has had the third-worst launch of any PlayStation Studios game on Steam.
The game’s average player count of 13,638 across its first two weeks put it in the bottom five, with only Returnal (3,105), Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection (4,633), Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (4,643), and Spider-Man: Miles Morales (5,500) performing worse.
Alongside its poor average player count, Spider-Man 2’s reviews have failed to impress. After two weeks, it sat at 67 percent positive reviews, only worsened by The Last of Us: Part 1’s 50 percent and Horizon Zero Dawn’s 64 percent. Both games have now seen their review scores significantly improve, with The Last of Us sitting at 77 percent and Horizon Zero Dawn at 87 percent.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, God of War took the top spot for both average player count and two-week review score, giving it first place overall. Spider-Man Remastered took second place, with a third-place average player count ranking and joint top review score, and Ghost of Tsushima came comfortably third.

Given the size of the IP, this one is likely a major disappointment for Sony, and one it hopes it can turn around in the future.
