Mount Hothead is a molten area that you can visit in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. When you first arrive, you may notice the lack of lava flowing down the mountain, but this isn’t permanent. By completing quests in the area, you’ll eventually be able to fire up the volcano.

There are tons of critters for you to catch in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. Here, you can learn how to find and catch them all!

This is done through the quest that is fittingly called Fire Up The Volcano. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to complete Fire Up The Volcano and ultimately unlock the Caldera in Hello Kitty Island Adventure. This will also cover the requirements to start the quest, as it won’t be available right away.

To complete Fire Up The Volcano, you’ll need to reach friendship level 11 with Retsuko, as well as complete the quest called Enraging Ruins. This is another quest that takes place on Mount Hothead, that requires friendship level seven with Retsuko and completion of Power Up The Gate.

Once you’ve completed the requirements, you can then begin Fire Up The Volcano.

How To Start Fire Up The Volcano

Keroppi introducing himself to Retsuko in Hello Kitty Island Adventure.

Your first step is to speak with Keroppi, who is standing in front of a Mount Hothead cave. You won’t have to search for this area; just head to his icon on the map to the far left of the central mailbox. After talking with Keroppi, you’ll learn that the flow of lava has been stopped, and he wants to do something about it.

From here, head to Retsuko and inform her about the situation. Return to Keroppi once more (with Retsuko) and proceed into the cave.

Once inside, the ultimate goal is to have Retsuko transform into Aggrestuko and sing in order to dislodge rocks and get the lava flowing. In total, there are three lava areas (and the Caldera) that you’ll need to do this for.

First Lava Pool

This is the area that you are in immediately after proceeding into the cave. After a conversation with Retsuko and Keroppi, she will transform and sing, causing the chasm in the chamber to fill with lava.

To cross, you’ll need to jump across the square stones. Don’t stand on the same stone for too long though, as it will eventually disappear. Cross the lava, and then take the minecart into a second chamber.

Second Lava Pool

After getting off the minecart, you’ll be in a small area with a ramp heading up. Follow this until you reach the next area. Midway up the ramp (when looking at the full map, this is the far left side), there is a chest that is just out of view.

The next area doesn’t have any lava; just continue going forward until you reach another minecart. Take this cart into an area with staircases on either side. You can open a chest if you head up the left staircase.

Here, singing will commence, and the lava will start flowing. Crossing is a bit more complex than before, and there are now two routes.

The path going to the right is the main route, but you can head left in order to open a chest with a Stamina Apple Slice. After getting the chest, head back and to the right. The rocky platform here has a chest that you can open, as well as a Gudatama that you can take a picture of.

Third Lava Pool

In the chamber after the second pool, head north until you reach another minecart. The chamber itself is quite big; you can also find a chest on the rock ‘island’ to the left of where you enter. Once you grab it, take the cart into a new area.

Continue to follow the quest marker forward until you reach the last indoor lava pool. More singing happens, and then a straight line of tiles appears. Quickly run across these and then go through the opening, which puts you outside, in the Caldera.

Fill The Caldera

Before starting this step, be sure to interact with the mailbox to the left of the entrance. This lets you fast-travel to the top of the Caldera quickly.

There is a lack of lava in the Caldera, so you know what comes next. Retsuko will sing, but even with the help of Keropi, it doesn’t work. From here, you’ll get the Concert Outfit, which you can put on from your inventory.

The outfit gives you the appearance of a volcano, complete with a Volcano Smoke hat! When you’re dressed, talk with Keroppi and then start singing! This will make the lava start flowing.

How To Complete Fire Up The Volcano

When the lava flows again, Kiki and Lala will appear to thank you for restoring the volcano. As a reward, you’ll get the Mount Hothead Star Fragment. Once they disappear again, the quest will be complete!

To the left of your location upon ending the quest, you’ll find some luggage that has been lost, which is a quest item for Lost Luggage. This particular box belongs to Keroppi, so be sure to give it to him. There is also a Gudatama nearby, so don’t forget to take a picture.

At the Caldera, you may also notice a circular area that has been damaged by rocks. This is the Saunarator, which is unlocked through quests, starting with Mount Mystery. For now though, you don’t have to worry about this.
