GameSir has finally lifted the curtain on the mysterious gaming controller it’s been teasing for the past few weeks. While many gamers were hoping for a G7 Pro, the new controller has been revealed to be the GameSir Super Nova — a wireless model compatible with PC, Switch, Android, and iOS.
The peripheral maker has been on fire recently, releasing high-quality, drift-free gaming controllers that don’t break the bank. The new Super Nova seems to target gamers who prefer membrane face buttons over clicky mechanical ones, as well as physical trigger stops, drift-free sticks, swappable ABXY buttons, and a dedicated charging dock.

Our Picks for the Best Controllers of 2024
2024 was a big year for gaming controllers, with technical enhancements and cool reskins abounding. Here are our favorite controllers from 2024.
GameSir Super Nova Multiplatform Game Controller
Sporting a standard Xbox layout design, the Super Nova is similar to most controllers GameSir has released recently. However, it introduces a fresh look with a cool gradient finish and subtle RGB lighting. Shoppers can choose between pink and gray or blue and black colorways, with both options including a matching charging dock. On the back, you’ll find PS5-style triggers with physical trigger stops, along with two additional back buttons that support single-button mapping and macro recording.
Unlike the Cyclone 2, the Super Nova uses quiet and tactile membrane buttons, which some gamers prefer to mechanical ones. While it uses Hall effect sensors instead of TMR, stick drift won’t be an issue, no matter how much abuse you throw at it. The Super Nova also adds a few tricks, such as the ability to pop off the magnetic faceplate and swap the ABXY buttons, as well as a physical toggle to switch between Bluetooth, wired, and wireless dongle modes.

GameSir Cyclone 2 Controller Review
GameSir Cyclone 2 is the latest high performance wireless controller for PC and Nintendo Switch that you should be looking at.
Coming in at just $45, the Super Nova sits between the Nova Lite (currently $25) and the Cyclone 2 (currently $56). With a larger 1000 mAh battery, a charging dock, and both a wireless dongle and USB-C cable, it’s a solid upgrade from the Nova Lite and GameSir’s other budget controllers. The Cyclone 2 offers more responsive TMR sensors and clicky mechanical buttons and d-pad for $11 more, but, aside from that, both controllers share largely the same features.

Should You Buy the GameSir Super Nova?
For just $45, the Super Nova punches well above its weight and should be a go-to controller for anyone looking for a drift-free controller for PC or the Switch. However, if you already have a Cyclone 2, there is no need to get the Super Nova unless you prefer membrane face buttons. For those looking for clicky mechanical face buttons and TMR sensors, the Cyclone 2 is still one of GameSir’s best offerings.
Pre-order the GameSir Super Nova
GameSir did a fantastic job with the Super Nova and Cyclone 2, but both still lack some advanced features, such as adjustable stick tension. If that’s something you need in your next controller, Flydigi offers the best alternatives with its Vader 4 Pro and Apex 4. In addition to allowing you to manually adjust the stick tension, these controllers also come with four back buttons.
