While we’ll never really understand how cheating makes someone feel better about themselves, the trend continues with every new release.

However, what’s worse than cheating in casual lobbies is cheating in ranked or competitive formats. Epic Games has decided not to hold back on one cheater, who unfairly made his way into the 2023 Fortnite Championship Series Grand Finals. Not only was he made to publicly apologise, but was also legally obligated to make a monetary settlement, including the prize money.

“Epic took legal action against me and now I’m banned from participating in Fortnite tournaments forever,” said RepulseGod in a text-based video on his channel. “I also have to pay a monetary settlement, which includes the prize money I received but did not fairly win, which Epic will donate to charity. Cheating in tournaments ruins the fun for the players who earned their spot in tournaments and I apologise to the Fortnite community for my actions. I won’t ever cheat in Fortnite again.”
Epic Games also made a statement about the incident, saying, “Cheating is never a winning strat. We took legal action against a player who shared their account to unfairly qualify for FNCS. Now they’re banned from Fortnite tournaments forever and their undeserved prize money was donated to charity.” A link to RepulseGod’s video was attached with it.
Multiplayer games have been struggling to deal with cheaters, with newer methods being devised as soon as the developers manage to track them down. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is one of the recently launched games which has seen a huge influx of such incidents, despite featuring robust countermeasures.
