Summary

  • Justin Hammer could come back seeking revenge as a key villain in Captain America 5.
  • Sin, Red Skull’s daughter, could lead to Hydra’s resurgence in a future movie.
  • Vermin, a tragic monster, could be a secondary villain keeping Captain America occupied.

With Captain America: Brave New World achieving financial success at the box office, it stands out as one of the few franchises in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that has consistently performed well. This success raises the question of who or what Sam Wilson might have to face if Captain America 5 is approved by Marvel Studios.

Every Captain America Movie And TV Show, Ranked

From his MCU debut to an overlooked 90s adaptation, these are all the live-action adventures of Captain America, ranked.

There are not only supervillains from comic books that could be adapted into live-action but also characters from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies and Disney+ shows. Since Brave New World resolved some ongoing storylines, Captain America 5 could potentially do the same.

7

Justin Hammer

With Iron Man Gone, It’s Going To Be War For The Iron Man Suits

  • First MCU Appearance: Iron Man 2

Since Captain America: Brave New World brought back Samuel Sterns to be the main villain, the same treatment could be given to Justin Hammer. After being ruined by both Tony Stark and Ivan Vanko, it’s not that hard to believe that Justin Hammer would want revenge, and with Tony Stark dead, Iron Man’s technology will be sought after.

There was a time when fans suspected Sam Rockwell would return to the MCU in Armor Wars, but that project appears to have fallen apart before it began. Perhaps a Captain America 5 could see Hammer trying to steal Tony Stark’s technology, which leads to Sam Wilson teaming up with War Machine, Ironheart, or Rescue.

6

Sin

The Red Skull’s Daughter Could Lead To The Return Of Hydra

  • First Comic Appearance: Captain America Vol. 1 #290

Sin is the daughter of the Red Skull in the comics, who would follow in her father’s footsteps in desiring global domination. Sin is the one who arranged for Crossbones to kill Steve Rogers in the Civil War storyline. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet to confirm that Red Skull ever had a daughter, but that also means that nothing says she doesn’t exist.

Even though Hydra was defeated in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, it is unlikely that every single remnant of Hydra has died. Sin could be the perfect way to bring the organization back, while also being the first female villain for a Captain America movie. Since Sam Wilson is the next-generation Captain America, Sin could do the same for Red Skull.

5

Vermin

The Perfect Monster For Keeping Captain America Busy

  • First Comic Appearance: Captain America Vol. 1 #272

A recurring trend in Captain America movies is that there is usually one secondary villain who works for the main villain. Vermin would be perfect for that, especially since it’s never shown how many experiments Arnim Zola worked on during and after World War 2 for Hydra. It’s not outlandish to think that monsters like Vermin were created for nefarious purposes.

Every Captain America Costume In The MCU, Ranked

From The First Avenger to Brave New World, both iterations of Captain America have featured numerous iconic costumes throughout the years.

In the comics, Vermin is a rat-like monster and is equally creepy as he is tragic. He was a man who grew up being sexually abused by his father, leading to him being homeless. Arnim Zola abducted him and turned him into a Hydra science project, which could be a way for Sam Wilson to appeal to what’s left of his humanity before or after trying to fight him hand to hand.

4

Sidewinder

Giancarlo Esposito Deserves To Be The Main Villain For Captain America

  • First MCU Appearance: Captain America: Brave New World

Captain America: Brave New World tried to have three different villains in one movie, one of them being Sidewinder. It was another smooth and show-stealing villain performance for Giancarlo Esposito, but the character was reduced to only ten minutes of screen time at the most, even though he deserved more.

Since Sidewinder did not die and even teased that he would see Captain America again, perhaps this could lead to his return. After all, in the comics, Sidewinder is the leader of a whole snake-themed group of villains called the Serpent Society, and they alone could be the plot of an entire sequel rather than a team of mercenaries that was seen in Brave New World.

3

Madame Hydra

Hydra Or Serpent Society Could Rise Again With Her

  • First Comic Appearance: Captain America Vol. 1 #110

Thus far in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, audiences have seen all the Hydra regulars from the comics: Red Skull, Crossbones, Arnim Zola, and even Zemo, despite not being Hydra in the movies. However, Madame Hydra has yet to appear in the MCU aside from a non-canon video game, Captain America: Super Soldier.

There are dozens of amazing and sinister female Marvel villains that make being evil look awesome. These are best ones.

If Hydra could create the Winter Soldier post-World War 2, they likely could have indoctrinated someone and groomed them to be the new leader of Hydra as they did in the comics. Also, now that Marvel Studios owns the rights to the character, she could be both Madame Hydra and the Serpent Society member known as Viper, building off multiple Captain America films.

2

Power Broker

Fans Want To Know What Sharon Is Up To

  • First MCU Appearance: Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is tying up loose ends, fans were shocked that the Power Broker, Sharon Carter, has yet to reappear. The Falcon And The Winter Soldier revealed that Sharon now operates as the ruler of a criminal empire in Madripoor known as the Power Broker, which makes her a morally gray character that makes fans curious about her endgame.

With Captain America: Brave New World focusing on a conspiracy happening from the shadows, some theorized that Sharon would be part of it, but that never happened. If Madame Hydra rises, Sharon would be in trouble since, in the comics, she took over Madripoor. This could lead to a war between criminal syndicates with Sam Wilson trying to stop both sides.

1

Helmut Zemo

Not Many Villains Get To Come Back More Than Once

  • First MCU Appearance: Captain America: Civil War

After being one of the best Captain America villains and MCU villains, Helmut Zemo made a standout return via The Falcon And The Winter Soldier. In that series, the character finally evolved into the Baron Zemo from the comics, even featuring the purple mask, but he was taken away to Wakanda at the end.

Daniel Brühl has become a beloved part of the MCU as Zemo, and it would be a shame to never see him again. With the Avengers starting to reassemble and the Sokovia Accords beginning to dissolve, the character would want to keep that from happening. Perhaps Zemo will bring together the Masters Of Evil villain team for an ultimate hero vs villain ensemble film.
