Toaplan, a renowned arcade game developer, known for its impact on the shoot ’em-up genre, is bringing back classics like the original Truxton and more through this platform.

Amusement Arcade Toaplan is an arcade platform that lets you relive Toaplan’s classic games while designing and expanding your own arcade with cabinets, drink machines, sofas, and more. If you are unfamiliar, Toaplan was a popular arcade game developer from the 80s and 90s in Japan, known for its major influence on the shoot ‘em up genre.
I am excited about this as I love classic games, and it brings back 25 classic Toaplan titles, spanning iconic shoot ‘em ups, platform action, racing and beat ‘em ups, and includes both Japanese and international versions of the games, which are a huge bonus.
You can enjoy these classics with external controllers and arcade sticks
Moreover, these games feature customizable touch controls and support external controllers, including Bluetooth arcade sticks, providing an authentic arcade experience. Plus, you can tweak individual game settings like difficulty, lives, invincibility, and more, to suit your playstyle.
I am eager to try Truxton, the 1988 classic, which is being offered for free alongside five other demos titles Tiger Heli, Flying Shark, Wardner, Snow Bros., and Teki Paki. You can also purchase full versions of these demos if you like them.
Beyond that, 24 titles are available for purchase, including Guardian, Twin Cobra, Snow Bros. 2, Truxton II, and more. Each comes with a cabinet and an item to place in your custom arcade. Amusement Arcade Toaplan also supports vertical (tate) and horizontal (yoko) display modes, multiple filters, and effects, and allows you to create your own arcade in 3 layouts x 3 regions.
