AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT appears on Amazon ahead of launch, hints at price

We’re mere weeks away from the launch of the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, with the card set to be officially unveiled in all its glory at an event on February 28, 2025. However, one potentially lucky buyer could be getting the new graphics card early, thanks to an apparent slip up by Amazon Canada.

With the RX 9070 XT set to be AMD‘s most performant best graphics card option out of its upcoming RDNA 4 gaming GPUs, there’s every chance it will be in huge demand when it arrives. For one Canadian buyer, though, the scramble for stock come launch day could be of no concern at all.

The AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT listing appeared on Amazon.ca where it was snapped up by Reddit user, MrDrCardiologist, who took to Reddit to show a screenshot of the order they’d just made.

MrDrCardiologist revealed they’d paid $1,360 CAD for the card, which is roughly $960 USD, so they seemingly paid a premium for this early access card, compared to the rumored RX 9070 XT price. That said, while we had previously expected the card to be priced in the region of $550-$750 dollars, recent rumors have suggested some cards could be selling for as high as $849, so the premium this buyer paid might not be all that high. We’ve also seen prices for Nvidia’s RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 cards skyrocket since launch, due to demand remaining so high.

Regardless, it’s currently unclear if Amazon has or will honor the purchase and ship the card early. MrDrCardiologist has also indicated that they’re unsure if they will cancel the order themselves or return the card, saying “Not sure I’ll keep the order, I bet it’ll probably be canceled but I’m just happy I was able to get something in case it’s a good product.”

MrDrCardiologist goes on to point out that their decision of whether or not to keep the card will in part come down to how the performance of the card pans out. Notably, they point out that the decision won’t come down to the much-rumored improved ray tracing performance of AMD’s latest GPU architecture but will instead depend on traditional rasterized performance, with them saying “if it’s close to the 5080 in raster it might end up being worth it.”

The card in question is the Sapphire Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Gaming OC, which appears to be an overclocked, souped-up version of the GPU. The listing also notes the card includes 16GB of GDDR6 VRAM, which is in line with rumors and would match the expected VRAM of the RTX 5070 Ti, but be more than the 12GB expected VRAM of the RTX 5070.

While the AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT reveal date is set for February 28, AMD has confirmed you won’t be able to actually buy the card until “early March.” So, while you wait for those dates to roll around, why not check out our RTX 5080 review to get a sense of the features and performance of Nvidia’s nearest rival card that’s already available.
