While technically outnumbered by new releases, anime sequels hog so much of the limelight that they almost always overshadow everything else. 2025 is not shaping up to be an exception, with each season including a plethora of continuations, be it for shonen, isekai, action, fantasy, or romance stories.
More importantly, there is a very good chance that one of 2025’s anime sequels will be the year’s best series, especially since shows like Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8, Spy x Family, One-Punch Man, Black Butler, My Dress-Up Darling, and Dorehedoro are all set to drop new seasons. As keeping track of all the returns can be challenging, let’s go through all the anime sequels announced for 2025.
Solo Leveling, Dr. Stone, The Apothecary Diaries, My Happy Marriage, & More
The Winter 2025 anime season has a very strong lineup of sequels, including some of the year’s most highly anticipated continuations. Solo Leveling Season 2: Arise from the Shadow is comfortably the quarter’s biggest release, and the sequel is better than its already very good predecessor. The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 has also been fantastic, and the same can be said for 100 Girlfriends, My Happy Marriage, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, and Dr. Stone. Even “smaller” anime like Ave Mujica: The Die is Cast, Blue Exorcist, Ishura, and Unnamed Memory managed to eclipse their previous offerings.

Spring 2025 Anime Sequels
Fire Force, Black Butler, Wind Breaker, & More
While a few other series might still be announced for the season, Spring should be largely complete by this point, even if its roster of upcoming 2025 anime sequels is not quite as expansive as its predecessor. That said, the quarter still has quite a few exciting names, including Fire Force, which has been dormant for about four years. Honestly, Spring 2025 should be a good season for shonen sequels in general, as Black Butler, Wind Breaker, and Go! Go! Loser Ranger! will also make their comebacks.

Summer 2025 Anime Sequels
Dandadan, Kaiju No. 8, Rent-a-Girlfriend, & More
Despite still having a ways to go before finalizing its lineup, Summer 2025 is already packed with exciting anime. Dandadan will likely be the season’s standout show, both in terms of exposure and (hopefully) quality. Season 1 was brilliant, and there is nothing to suggest that the sequel will fail to match its predecessor’s quality. If it manages to do so, Dandadan Season 2 will certainly be one of the best 2025 anime sequels.
The rest of the current lineup is not bad either. Kaiju No. 8 is a huge deal in its own right and, like Dandadan, is following up an enjoyable 2024 season. Sakamoto Days Part 2 will probably be entertaining, even if Winter 2025’s Part 1 has not quite lived up to expectations. Love or hate it, Rent-a-Girlfriend Season 4 is one of the year’s biggest sequels.

Anime movies are more unpredictable than shows, at least when it comes to releases in North America. While a film might debut in 2025 in Japan, a Western release will almost certainly be postponed by a few months, potentially arriving in 2026. That said, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer, and Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie should be safe bets for (relatively) quick NA debuts, especially the first two.
