Top Goal Soccer Champion is an online football game from Nordeus, the developers of the popular football management game Top Eleven: Be A Football Manager where you can build your ultimate team, compete in PvP matches, and dominate the leaderboards. Many players will have no idea how to swipe to play + management games work, so they may have difficulty getting started. So, to assist you, I have created this Top Goal beginners guide with some useful tips that will help in pushing your gameplay to the next level.

Gameplay overview of Top Goal

Well, if you have played Score Hero, which I believe most of us have enjoyed since it was one of the easiest-to-play yet highly frustrating games, you will understand Top Goal too. Simply put, in Top Goal, you don’t need to control a particular player but play out his actions, which results in scoring chances.

In the game, matches play out in real-time against different players in 3D, giving you full control over dribbling, passing, and shooting but without a D-Pad, so this is similar to Score Hero. Again, the controls are all swipes and touches, so skipping the tutorial isn’t recommended at all. As you progress, you will unlock top-ranked players, and further improve your squad.

Understanding the game basics

Match Flow

Match Flow is fast-paced, with you facing off against random players in a PvP environment. Each match gives you three chances, so you need to make the most of every opportunity. You can see what type of chance you are having, ranging from Basic to Great chance. You have time ticking for every move, but you can do unlimited moves until you shoot/lose the ball.

If neither player scores during those three chances, the game moves to a penalty shootout. The first player to miss loses the match. Team OVR matters here as the higher-rated team gets better and easier chances compared to the opponent.

Touch Controls

Further digging into the gameplay, you need to understand what type of moves can be made in this game. From what I have played, you have four different actions to make during attack: Pass, Dribble, Sprint, and Shoot.

All four come with different actions. You need to swipe to pass, tap on any area to make your player move and dribble, double tap on any area on your screen to make the player sprint, and when the time is right, click on the shoot option in the middle which opens the shooting section, where you need to swipe down on the pad to hit a shot.

Defending is pretty straightforward with swipe controls, and for newcomers, there’s an auto option. To press an opponent, just swipe towards their player. You can also swipe to direct your player to specific areas, like blocking passing lanes or intercepting the ball, giving you several defensive options.

While progressing through arenas is one task, building your empire is another. On the home screen, you can click to see your Football Town. These come with different perks, some generate money, some Player XP and different uses as such. For that upgrading becomes essential, which in turn progression also becomes faster. Rewards for all these can be collected at the Town Vault, which will be working even when you are offline.

In-game currencies

There are two major currencies in this game.

  • Money: Your basic currency. Can be used to get players, rank up players, purchase items, play Arena matches and many other in-game aspects. Can be even earned by watching ads, while playing Arena matches fetches you the double investment if you win the match.
  • Tokens: Premium currency, used in various aspects of the game such as bidding, and purchasing items from the shop. Can be earned through Football Town or purchased via a shop with real money.

Top Goal Beginners Guide: Tips and Tricks

While playing Top Goal, I advise you to remember a few basic tips and tricks to remember while playing the game.

1. Accurate shots with correct timing

When taking a shot, swiping longer adds more power, but accuracy is just as important. You can take the full clock timing to run out, but always ensure that whatever shot you take, the timing has to be right and the arrow should point towards the given range, or else you will miss.

2. Don’t take too ambitious and precise shots

Okay, this might be a tip that I can vouch for driven by experience. In other football games where I always aim to the top or bottom corners, in this game the margin of error seems to be on the higher side. When lining up your shot, leave a bit of extra space from the goalposts to compensate. That way, even if your timing on the arrow bar isn’t perfect, your shot still has a good chance of finding the back of the net.

3. Upgrade your facilities

Investing in better club facilities improves training efficiency, player development, and overall rewards. Aim to reach Town Hall Level 5 as soon as possible, as it unlocks almost every key facility you’ll need. A well-upgraded club ensures stronger players, better resource generation, and long-term success on and off the pitch.

Teaming up with others in an active Football Association brings extra rewards. You will notice your FA progress is counted with collaboration points, so having that becomes essential. Make sure you play Arena matches to collect them and improve rewards.

5. Tasks fetch rewards

This is a tip I always give to the players in my guides because it is simple yet a very essential. Keeping an eye on the task section is a must. This is like your map, if you do not know what to progress with, this section helps in understanding what to complete first.

6. Player Scouting

Some high-rated players come at a surprisingly low cost, so always check their value before making a decision. If you spot a bargain, grab it before others do. However, if a bidding war starts with other players, it’s often best to skip it and look for another option as it requires your premium currency.

Final Thoughts

Top Goal: Soccer Champion offers a solid mix of soccer gameplay and club management. If you enjoy playing on the field or making smart decisions as a manager, the game has you covered.
