Avowed is the second major role-playing game to launch this February. While it may not be as massive or lengthy as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you can still expect to spend dozens of hours exploring its rich world.

Keyboard & Controller Support For Avowed
Keyboard Support On PC
Like any well-designed PC port of an AAA game, Avowed offers full key rebinding, allowing players to customize controls to their preferences. This is especially great news for those who prefer using arrow keys. Additionally, the game supports secondary key bindings, enabling two different keys to perform the same function.
- For mouse settings, players can adjust sensitivity separately for the X and Y axes and invert them individually as well.
Controller Support On PC
Controller players will be pleased to know that Avowed offers excellent controller support, for the most part. The game allows you to adjust various settings, including dead zones, look sensitivity, and vibration. It also features a Southpaw control preset. However, the real highlight is full button remapping, just like on the keyboard — a feature that’s becoming increasingly common in modern games.
The only drawback is that Avowed doesn’t natively support DualShock 4 or DualSense controllers. If you want to use a PlayStation controller, you’ll need third-party software like DS4Windows or DualSenseX, or you will need to rely on Steam Controller Input. Even then, the game will display Xbox button prompts, which might cause some confusion.
There’s a possibility that Avowed could receive DualSense support in the future. Hi-Fi Rush, another Microsoft first-party title, gained DualSense support on PC via an update, but this only happened after its PlayStation 5 release was announced.

Which Input Device To Choose In Avowed
The best input device for Avowed largely depends on personal preference, as both keyboard and controller have their advantages. A controller offers a more laid-back experience, whereas a keyboard and mouse require more active engagement from players.
Limitations Of A Controller
While a controller retains most keyboard functions, it does have some limitations. On a keyboard, you can assign quick-access buttons for all six ability slots, whereas a controller is limited to four via the D-pad. Additionally, keyboard users can quickly use both Health and Essence Potions, while these options aren’t as easily accessible on a controller. Navigating the Ledger is also more efficient with a keyboard, allowing direct access to specific pages, whereas a controller requires scrolling through menus.
If you prefer having more control and quick access to functions, a keyboard and mouse are the better choice. However, if these compromises don’t bother you, the more relaxed experience of using a controller is definitely worth considering.
