The highly anticipated third season of Reacher launches on Prime Video on February 20, and it’ll see Alan Ritchson’s hulking hero take on a risky undercover mission, and face off against a brand-new set of villains. One of those villains is a character called Paulie, who is played by 7.2 inch body builder, Olivier Richters, and the new addition to the cast has teased a ‘huge brawl’ between the pair, and it looks set to be one of the best fights in the action series thus far.
Reacher season 3 is based on Lee Child’s book, Persuader, and the character of Paulie is a henchman for the main villain, Zachary Peck. Not many actors are taller and built bigger than Alan Ritchson, but in Olivier Richters, the creative team have found Reacher’s ultimate nemesis.

Olivier Richters was no secret to training regimes during his career as a professional body builder before he dipped his toes into acting. However, joining the cast of Reacher season 3 as big villain, Paulie saw Richters training five hours a day and consuming 7000 calories in order to keep his weight consistent. ‘The Dutch Giant’ recently spoke to Empire to discuss the epic fight sequence that took place between him and Alan Ritchson, and the fans are in for a real treat:
The effort they put into Reacher versus Paulie is astonishing. We might be a little bit immortal in the fight, because it continues for so long. I’m not going to say we’re going to win an Oscar for the fight scene, but it’s going to be spectacular.
No need for any Oscar nominations: fans are tuning into Reacher season 3 for brutal fight scenes, and the one between these two huge stars is going to be one for the ages. It’s exciting to hear that Reacher and Paulie’s rough and tumble isn’t short-lived either. No spoilers, but the show is called Reacher, so realistically, there can only be one winner. Having said that, Richters makes Alan Ritchson look like a normal-sized person, so the battle is bound to be Reacher’s toughest to date. The eponymous ex-110th Special Investigator might need the assistance of fan favorite, Frances Neagley, to defeat Zachary Peck’s henchman.
Olivier Richters Has A Lot of Positive Things To Say About Alan Ritchson After Seeing The Work He Puts In On Reacher
Alan Ritchson has built a successful career in Hollywood, but it was his role as Jack Reacher in Prime Video’s hit action series that propelled him to stardom. Olivier Richters gushed to Empire about his own personal experience working with Ritchson on Reacher season 3:
I said to [Alan] as a joke, but it’s kind of true, that he’s really Reacher in real life. He has so many lines to learn, he has to perform, he has to eat continuously, he has to show up for the fight-training after filming all day. It’s inhuman, what he does. It’s a level I can only dream of.
Ritchson really is the consummate professional, and deserves a lot of credit for his portrayal of Lee Child’s hero. Tom Cruise originally portrayed Jack Reacher in two movies, in 2012 and 2016, respectively. However, a big complaint from the fans was that the Hollywood legend just didn’t match the physicality and size of Jack Reacher in the book series. When Alan Ritchson took on the role in the television iteration, it was clear he was born to play the character. Ritchson significantly bulked up for Reacher season 2, and became even closer to Lee Child’s vision of the ex Military cop. Reacher season 3 sees Ritchson build on this, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Olivier Richters’ casting was an extra incentive to do so.
