Summary
- PlayStation Trophies help make gaming fun, though not every Platinum is created equal.
- Taking to Reddit, gamers discussed the rarest Platinum they have in their virtual Trophy cases.
- Among the highlights include Devil May Cry 5, GTA IV on PS3, and, of course, Wolfenstein.
It might be hard to believe, but there was once a time when PlayStation Trophies weren’t a thing. It wasn’t until 2008 that PlayStation Trophies were added to the PS3, and Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was the very first Platinum gamers could chase. In the time since, Trophies have become a staple, with some harder to achieve than others.
Of course, not every game has a complicated list of Trophies (cough, Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered), with some being super easy to obtain. But for those who stuck it out, the Platinum Trophy is a badge of honor. And so, taking it to Reddit, gamers flexed their rarest accomplishments.

How Rare Can You Go?
Right off the rip, one gamer noted both Killzone Shadow Fall (0.1% rarity) and Devil May Cry 5 (0.3%) as their rarest titles. A launch game, Shadow Fall, has some pretty hard trophies, including a multiplayer Gold that requires players top 1,000,000 points. Meanwhile, Devil May Cry has players needing to complete the game on Hell and Hell mode, plus completing the infamous Bloody Palace with every character.
On the Grand Theft Auto side of things, one player shared that IV on PS3 has a 0.97% rarity. The many — and we mean many — multiplayer trophies are likely a barrier for most gamers. Take it from TheGamer’s Dominic Allen if you don’t believe it.
In an interesting twist, one gamer has the Platinum of UFC 5, which has a 0.4% rarity. Another has the FIFA 23 Platinum, with a 0.1% rarity. It’s not often you think of sports titles as ones with hard Trophy lists, but you learn new things every day.
Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t give props to the gamers who flexed their Wolfenstein Platinums. “Nobody understands the insanity of Mein Leben until they try it,” one player wrote in response. For those out of the loop, Mein Leben requires players to beat the game on the equivalent of “Ultra Hard” without any checkpoints and with permadeath on. Yeah, that’s some serious effort.
Regardless of what your rarest Platinum trophy is, one thing is for certain — gaming is a lot better with Trophies.
