Oda’s Draft of Volume 111’s Cover
Featuring the Straw Hats and Loki
Eiichiro Oda has, over the last few years, been releasing drafts of the volume cover he draws. This is an incredible way for fans to see Oda’s thought process on how he gets to the final result. It’s even more exciting when he features on the cover a newer character, as this reveals their color scheme.
The most recent example of this is the draft cover of volume 111, which was just revealed to fans.
That cover is the first one for the Elbaf arc, and it features a few Straw Hat characters, notably, Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Sanji, Chopper, and Usopp, as well as one of the newest major characters, Loki, Elbaf’s Giant Prince.
This cover draft revealed the color schemes of the outfits of these Straw Hats, which many fans had guessed correctly, as Oda followed their usual colors. The most exciting part was definitely the reveal of Loki’s color. In the video, fans can see that Oda was experimenting with many combinations for his hair.
For his hair, Oda went through a few options such as blond, red, purple, and green, but in the end, he ended up sticking with a purplish pink. His tattoos were also shown, and Oda colored them with a shade of red.
Of course, it’s also important to note to fans that this isn’t the final product, as this is only a draft. Once it is completed and rendered, the cover will look a lot cleaner, and the colors will look a whole lot nicer.
